Not sure this is really the place for this, but I wanted to share a concern with a group of people that solve problems for a living.
I've been watching a programme tonight about child slavery. It's become the quickest growing crime.
The selling of human lives is the most horrific thing. Many of these kids will never have any sense of a normal life.
Felt numb after watching it.
How, as a world, can we let this happen. I know there's no quick answer. But then again, it took a group of radical people to stop slavery before. Maybe we need a new group of radicals.
Thank you for letting me vent.

How do you stop it?
You have to create a good economy where people aren't so desperate that they need to steal children, sell their own children, or use slaves just to make a buck.
- this is ridiculous. even if the economy is good it doesn't mean people are good. bad people will always go for the cheapest labor. completely fucked mindset.lvl_13
- People are good for the most part. You can't stop all crime, but if everyone is doing well and is happy, there will be a lot less.freedom
- lvl_13, do you want to jail or kill all evil people?freedom
- Why would you come to that assumption? my statement says nothing of the sort.lvl_13
- people are dumb sheep for the most partMilan
- lvl_13, you sound like the NRA.freedom
- fish rots from the head down.yurimon
- freedom you got a weird way of tying random shit to other random shit. nice try though trolly.lvl_13

- Who knew the solution was so easy...just go create good economy and make everyone rich...brbyuekit
- i am a NRA member and i agree with freedom's post. lvl_13, you're sounding kinda simplistic. slavery is still widespread in impoverished countries, coincidence?gilgamush
- of fucking course notgilgamush
- what you are talking about you are slave in America just a different degrees of slaveryyurimon
- haha, no shit. the slaves get the weekend off to go shopping and pretend they're free.Milan
- pump the brakes you two. don't trivialize the child sex trade by comparing it to american consumerism. coming across lacking in perspective.gilgamush
- Slave in America? I can travel anywhere I want, say what I believe and live on my own terms. Taxes pay for things I don't always believe in, this isn't N. Koreaomahadesigns
- i've just been double-troll body slammed! both by some obscure nra reference. *highFivelvl_13
- yup slave in America, prob more proper term serf. looks it up. in america your leash is lots bigger then other slaves.yurimon

whats the documentary?
I think there is something everyone could do if this something people agree to donate time or figure out how best to stop it. once you find financial ties between places that do it you will have a clear picture. middle east like dubia and Saudis are big on those things.
if you do nothing in face of evil you are complacent to it.

I don't see how you can stop it. Just like pedophiles, there are sick people out there that will pay for what they want.
Hopefully, with technology, it will be easier and easier to track/stop this scums.
Can't recall the other one, but The Whistleblower was good...both still haunting.
I disagree that people are "good". I think people are primitive and will do horrific things if the opportunity presents itself. They will also do heroic things, too, but most people will just go with the flow (there's some psychological data to prove that, too).

Unfortunately, slavery is still something that happens. The thought of people being held against their will is quite terrifying.
Plus the fact that we still have no control over it, scares the crap out of me. It really is what nightmares are made of. :(

cant hack being a parent? kid breaks some laws? ship those little shits off to some state funded hell hole. its no child slavery but i can attest that it isn't much fun and a lot of the accepted procedure i consider highly abusive i.e. violence, humiliation, solitary isolation, brainwashing etc. These places still carry on today all over the country and the despicable fucks who run these joints are getting filthy rich doing it. the moral of the story is that you ought to clean up your own back yard before you go boo hooing about people on a different continent. i know it sounds selfish but really it's just practical

- never said it was. my point is that trying to effect change a thousand miles away is self indulgent and may or may not help anythinggilgamush
- throwing money at some impersonal far away problem is weak minded and purely self servinggilgamush

Because of overpopulation and a lower valuation of children in third world countries (unlike our hyper-valuation of them)
- children are mind fucked in America also.
also we are different type of slave, just not the extreme you visualize.yurimon - You blame it on overpopulation? Wow. I'm surprised you didn't say global warmingHayoth
- Yep, they are mind-fucked here. The violence done to children in our country is less visible.cannonball1978
- Huh? Children are kidnapped everywhere, it's not only "third world countries"formed
- I didn't say anything about kidnapping.cannonball1978
- children are mind fucked in America also.

Btw, I never said this was a 'third world' thing. This is happening in many cities around the world.

"The United Nations estimates that roughly 27 to 30 million individuals are currently caught in the slave trade industry."
