The macbook air was a gorgeous machine, but the screen kinda sucked. Any good ultra light laptops with a high res screen that doesn't strain the eyes?

13" Retina is great.

The Dell XPS 13 2015 model is hot!
- formed0
- Wow, this blocking of sites really has to stop!!formed
- You don't realize how much nicer a smaller bezel is until you use it and go back to a thick one. I miss my 2007 15" MBPnb
- Dell beat them at what?monospaced
- Haha, mono you manage to sniff out any Apple criticism with uncanny ability!formed
- First, I didn't see it as apple criticism, and I didn't sniff it out. I was just asking a question.monospaced
- Just poking fun at you ;-)
They released the new screen before Apple did.formed - Apple released the "retina" 13-inch display years ago. If Dell using it is beating them, I don't see how.monospaced
- Dell just got a better version, is that what you're saying?monospaced
- Next you're gonna say Dell implemented the aluminum, one-piece case toomonospaced
- Mono, dell beat apple to a hd screen in a light laptop.pinkfloyd
- The macbook air does not have an hd screen, that's why this thread existpinkfloyd
- fanboipinkfloyd
- I see, they put it in the light-body first... and if I'm a fanboi (which I'm not) then you're a hater?monospaced
- I'm not a hater. If I was a hater, I wouldn't have bought a macbook air. I bought it, and got rid of it becausepinkfloyd
- the screen fell short to what I need. A ultraportable laptop with a screen that doesn't strain my eyespinkfloyd
- I want the best product, it could be either apple or pc or something else.pinkfloyd
- then I'm not a fanboi, because I didn't buy any of their laptops... I just have one computer, phone and the TVmonospaced
- What's with the texture? Other than that it looks good... probably because it looks like a Mac lol.kona
- mono, you are a fanboi because you have stocks invested in applepinkfloyd
- that's where all this bias is coming frompinkfloyd
- don't make me make a infographic chart of your posts and it's relationship to apple fan boyismpinkfloyd
- now go play with indesignpinkfloyd
- wow, owning stock and investing is now what makes me a fanboi? I actually thought that made me seem like less of onemonospaced
- I thought a fanboi was someone who bought all apple products and thought they were the best, which I am notmonospaced
- I invest regularly, and I don't buy stocks because I'm a fan of anything about them except for their returnsmonospaced
- You're a fanboi either if you bought a macbook or shares in apple. Samething because it's going to the same brandpinkfloyd
- You liarpinkfloyd
- now I'm a liar? fyi, I also own Google stock, so I guess by your logic I'm an Android fanboi too.monospaced
- It would be dumb to allocate all your investment into one stock, so i'm sure you're not dumb enough to put it all on applepinkfloyd
- My point is you're twisting of logics to falsely reinforce you're recurring apple commentspinkfloyd
- And I would say you're doing the same to make me into some fanboi. I guess we disagree.monospaced
- My comments are more of a response to your responsepinkfloyd
- I love you too.monospaced
- You're english is also badpinkfloyd
- says the guy who just used the wrong version of 'your'monospaced
- It's a joke!pinkfloyd
- Yeah, was it the other time too? LOLmonospaced

Once you go OSX...
- nice try fan boi, but i've gone back and forthpinkfloyd
- Personally, it's the software the keeps me away from a Mac. Hardware=amazing, software=years behindformed
- I have bootcamp and go back and forth also, but I would hate to be stuck on Windows only.sem
- And I wouldn't say the software is years behind, it depends on what you're doing. For audio OSX is unbeaten.sem
- As for design, I don't know what Windows offers that OSX don't in terms of Adobe SW. But OSX sure is stable and reliable.sem
- Windows is super stable. I just like the design of it better, overall most software is identical....kinda like apps is getting.formed
- For me it's the opposite. Hardware is overpriced but OSX is a joy to use.********
- Windows is super stable??! lolololol. No dude. OSX is so much better to use. I have to use Windows @ work.section_014
- windows on shit hardware is not stable. Apple just seems to be stable because its not available on weak machines.mekk

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 3rd Generation?
- I prefer Mac...********
- Mmm, spyware.detritus
- nice try, detritus. You know how much bloat shit apple packs in that you cannot uninstall, right? and icloud force? yeah, so shut up.mekk
- up, im tired of this shit.mekk
- SHOT FIRED!!
WORRRLDDD STAAAAR!!!GeorgesII - what bloatware can't be uninstalled or disabled?monospaced
- btw, Windows requires more than 2X disk space to installmonospaced
- I prefer Mac...

new Dell xps looks very good.
- pinkfloyd0
Why do most pc's look like shit? There's got to be more talented designers not just working at apple. Sony makes some slick looking laptops but geesh at the other pc crap computers.
- pinkfloyd0
I should make a website on how pc laptops should look like, and send the links to the pc companies for free.
- formed0
You think that Dell looks like shit?? At least look at better photos (QBN blocked my links). Imho it's the best looking PC (in a long time anyway) and is at least on par with MacBooks.
Most look like shit because most designers suck, imho. Look around us, most things are not that attractive. I am an architect and think 99% of architects suck.
But I agree, 10 years ago you could say Apple was just a niche player and no reason to pay attention to their designs, but now, I can't fathom why there aren't some.
I think a lot of it is no consistency, too many cooks, etc. Apple makes one thing, then keeps refining. Dell had beautiful laptops frmo 8 years ago (I still own one, works like a charm, beautiful screen still, etc., a Precision), if they jsut refined it...Who knows. At least phone companies realize that design matters.

played with a lenovo ultra portable, and it was pretty slick,
too bad apple decides to abandon all necessary périphériques, but it's ok, apple masochist are always ready to buy the latest adaptors,
one for lan, one for usb, one for firewire, oneor you can buy an apple display instead,
what a joke
- true. my partner was also looking for a new portable device and was very surprised that there's no ethernet...********
- ...connection in the new macbooks. like the fiture is only wi-fi or something.********
- true. my partner was also looking for a new portable device and was very surprised that there's no ethernet...

I have an Surface Pro 3 for the pen. But its honestly a really expensive toy. After that Lenovo fiasco I don't trust PC manufactures. Go with anything from Microsoft's Signature series. They are like the google nexus phones of laptops. Pure Windows. No crapware.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/st…- I had the surface pro 3, but dimming the screen created eye strain for me. They cheaped out on the dimming thingpinkfloyd
- would you trust apple with your fingerprints? ooooh fuck too lateGeorgesII
- are the fingerprints compromised or stored with apple? oh... nope they aren'tmonospaced

“nice try, detritus. You know how much bloat shit apple packs in that you cannot uninstall, right? and icloud force? yeah I prefer Mac ... im tired of this shit.” — mekk
First off, I'm a PC.
Second off, it was a reference to Lenovo specifically:

Third off, calm down!
- Ah, sorry, I see err and formed have both mentioned the ‘Superfish’ debacle.detritus

The 12" Retina Air might be announced tomorrow.
Per article, the strong contenders are the Dell XPS 13" (A 13" ultrabook in a 11" body), Lenova Yoga 3 at 2.6lbs and HP EliteBook 1020
- sarahfailin0
The Yoga 3 Pro has a high resolution, 3200 x 1800 display, SSD and super light and portable. I have the Yoga 2 Pro and I love how solid the build is, the hinge, and the balance of the thing. I can pick it up really easily with one hand and it feels very nice.
13" screen, 0.5" thick, 2.6 pounds.
