During the Russian military operations launched at dawn on Thursday, 74 elements of the land infrastructure of the Ukrainian armed forces were destroyed, Interfax reported, citing a statement from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Among other things, 11 Ukrainian air force airports and a significant part of its air and missile defenses were rendered inoperable, and a combat helicopter and four Bayraktar drones were shot down. However, it was reported that a Su-25 fighter plane had been lost in an accident.
Photo: Sergei Gric / MTI / MTVAIgor Konasenkov, a spokesman for the ministry, said the Russians were not attacking civilian targets, or even barracks and officer residences in the Ukrainian army.
Ukraine, meanwhile, acknowledged that Russian troops had occupied two cities, Nova Kakhovka and Genichesk, and one of the bridges over the Dnieper near Herson.
