theres one thing that I didn't get at the beginning...
he start of by going to some ruins and find that artifact orb, and right after some guards come to protect it from being stolen..if it is so important (one of the singularities of the freaking universe) why was it so badly guarded? why that hammer dude didn't put if on a safe under his throne or something?
I mean, that shit's so important that they store it on some ruins? with like, poor security and all...
other than that, great movie, loved the soundtrack, characters and everything. cg is looking great on this one too
- they werent guards. they were there to take the artifact aswell.pango

Most of my friends are saying, "It's the best Marvel movie ever made", and I'm thinking to myself, "So, is it any good?"
Not trolling. I haven't enjoyed a Marvel movie since the original Punisher, in 1989. Not because it was good, but because I was 9 years old, and 9 year-olds aren't exactly discerning when it comes to film. Maybe some people just grow out of this type of cinema, or maybe I'm just dead inside. Can someone explain to me why this film is good, without comparing it to super-hero movies of the past? Does it hold up on it's own, when compared against all films?
It's sort of like the Bond movies. I only ever hear people saying it's good "compared to other Bond movies." Nobody seems to praise these things on their own merit. Is it because they aren't objectively good, or is it just the nature of the way we discuss genre films?
- It's not really a superhero movie, it's a sci-fi action comedy.DRIFTMONKEY
- Perhaps you simply have no imagination or any child-like wonder left.ETM
- Or he's very mature and smart..OSFA
- I like driftmonkey's point. Let me put it this way: Why does everyone love Spiderman but hate Michael Bay? I don't see much difference.nb
- ...much difference. Except to say that Michael Bay is aware of himself and somewhat self-depricating.nb
- you are dead inside - its a comedy ffsfadein11

saw it with my kids over the weekend....a good time was had by all.
pretty terrific movie by all accounts...
Chris Pratt is definitely going to be on everyone's casting list for a good long time i think...he was great in this....someone posted somewhere the other day an old pic of Indiana Jones with his face photoshoped in over Harrison's....
and ya know....it'd be a good fit actor-wise....he seems to have that kind of charisma...
if they ever get that franchise going again, it'd be a tough call between him or bradley cooper i think...speaking of which, bradley coopers voice work as the raccoon was super funny...

I'm inclined to agree with best Marvel Movie, at least since Iron Man 1 or Spider-Man 2.
This will sound like bitching but: The soundtrack was great but it was almost too on the nose, sweet and well-known. Especially towards the last several songs of the movie, and it seems unlikely that a 10 year old kid (or however old) would have had such an infallibly tasteful mix tape. Towards the end I was like "really? 'ain't no mountain high enough'?"

What a fun movie. Hits all the right notes. Cast, soundtrack, dialogue, humor. All wrapped up in a cool sci-fi story.

Looked absurd to me in the trailers but Im hearing good things so ill see it with an open mind.
- QBN's own grumpy cat heremonospaced
- it's a fucking comic book with a talking fox and tree, of course it's absurd, no open mind neededmonospaced

Wow, this movie is super enjoyable! It feels like those golden era family movies that have genuine universal appeal.
The cast is cool too...Chris Pratt is the new Kurt Russell!
