It might have been a bit of a hot design mess back then, but at least it was creative and fresh. Now its a bunch of homogenized bullshit.

Yup. Now we get mass grids and generic WP templates that showcase "content". What bs. There is so little "content" out there worth looking at! I, for one, would much prefer the artistic splash and backgrounds, subtle/artistic animation and little content.
What we have now is an even more efficient consumer society, er, "content" consumption. Just blah websites selling more and more crap with a gazillion numbers to monitory ever click and glance.
Kinda reminds me of MTV's demise, too, for some reason.
