"Erroneous translations from Chinese
Language Log has had a number of posts on the subject of bad translations from English to Chinese that mistakenly use the word "fuck". (This post has links to a few others.) These include:
"Spread to fuck the fruit" (for "Loose dried fruit")
"Fuck the certain price of goods" (for "Dry foods price counter")
"Do you want to fuck what?" (for "What do you want to do?")
The problem, it seems, is that the same character 干 is used in simplified Chinese for words meaning "dry" and "do" and also in the latter sense can mean "fuck". And automatic translation software doesn't always know which one is appropriate ... --FOo (talk) 21:13, 3 May 2008 (UTC)"from wikipedia...

This is actually legal? I know they changed the name by adding dumb, but how can they use the logo and the name starbucks?

So I can patent a Dumb Matchbox® shoe box and that's okay?

They're completely open about ripping off Starbucks, so that means it's a parody?
One could argue that they are hurting Starbucks sales though. If they are competition (whether or not they make any money), is that still legal?

Hmm... Parody and Trademark.... if the South Butt were not a parody, I don't know what is, but....

If there's one thing capitalists hate, it's competition.

If there's one thing capitalists love, it's subsidies.

also a way to get free marketing. every one is talking about it.
do you think it benefits or hurts the original brand?
that location wouldn't other wise not be the best for starbucks as it's hipster town. they usually goes to other coffee places. when i say goes, i mean bike with their fixie. of-course. ;-)

Wouldn't that be funny if this was viral marketing for the new show Better Call Saul?
- CygnusZero40
Yeah I guess I just found it surprising that they can do this without catching all kinds of legal hell from Starbucks.
