For those of you Microsoft fanboys who claim Google are out to be the big brother of our time, here is some more fuel for you.
However, we're getting to the point where our TV, Gaming Consoles, Fridges etc are all getting connectivity. It is going to end up a choice of what company you allow access to your home...
Apple, Google, Microsoft etc...who would you trust most?

none of em.

That leads to my next question...
Some of this tech can actually make your life easier/safer etc or help you create more, would you boycott it? even if it becomes standard later in life?

I'd use the technologies that make my life easier and that won't pose any threat to my sensitive information. We're already part way there with home automation and online shopping.

Trust no one, admit nothing, deny everything.

It seems to be in line with smart grid concept. which entails domestic spying via your appliances. Also how much power you use via "so called " "sustainable living"

I think educating yourself on HOW your devices work is whats important. This will allow you to keep an eye on whats being sent back and forth right?
Much like Little Snitch on OSX.

smart grid is going to fuck us up,
soon,
tv will tell us not to talk,
fridge will complain about our eating habits and report us,
and our lights will be automatically turned off at 9pm to conserve energy,we so dummm

I wouldn't want a fridge online, but couldn't they force us? i.e by having the bigger supermarkets close all the smaller stores, then those bigger stores making things cheaper for those who order online etc.
I'm all for keeping shit real and sourcing my own entertainment, but food and power you can't go without.

We need more services like this

It's safe to assume that Google will eventually own everything.
