basically this thread has no purpose. just thought i'd share. maybe i'll post more pics of progress because it's super important to know which ones i might be ripping next.
you know... i realized i miss cd artwork and dragging these things home over the years. d/l'ing is convenient in many ways but fun it ain't. where's the thrill of the hunt now? stupid kids, get off my lawn!

It could be my CD collection too.
Although with Sade and Seal in there it's more like my CD collection when I was a teen sitting alongside a few of my parents CD's too :P

TFW you can actually download a 320 rip faster than it takes to rip it yourself

I love digging through old compilation CDs. Rutracker.org is a gold mine of that stuff.

OK, i just made the mistake of buying a couple of albums in WAV format and when I saved them remembered I've done this a few times before...
...so - I need software (Windows) to convert WAVs to MP3s.
Any advice?
I just downloaded WinAmp as I used to use that, but that apparently no longer offers MP3 output.
All I want is to dump files into a playlist and for the software to output conversions with the same filenames etc.
Ta!
- well i'd just toss those into iTunes and do a 'create MP3 version' at 320prophetone
- I .. ah.. don't touch iTunes - it did something bad to my music collection years ago.
Thanks.detritus - so touch it. turn off all the "organize my stuff" prefs and use it solely to convert as neededprophetone
- stay away from it otherwise tho. stupid iTunes lol. i love / hate it too but ultimately it works for me.prophetone

I started this process once and realized I didn't need every track off of every crappy 80's and 90's CD I had ever bought. I stopped after a couple of dozen out of the hundreds of CD my wife and I have.

"I need software (Windows) to convert WAVs to MP3s.
Any advice?"do you have adobe AE on your machine? that's what I use, for lack of dedicated audio software.
- I should've emphasised the 'playlist' aspect - I've got software that can do single WAVs. Thanks!detritus

after trying spotify when it first came to the states and dropping it, I decided to give it another try... And I'm totally in love with it. I was a die hard cd collection/itunes guy before. Now I love having a complete collection of music that doesn't take up HD space, can listen and collect songs I never felt like buying, and is consistently synced across all my devices.
I do miss finding albums the old way but I've "picked up" 100's of albums I've wanted but didn't really feel like buying or going through the hassle of stealing it.
- can you put music from spotify on an iPhone?doesnotexist
- yeah i haven't spotify'd yet. just rip'n 100's of my personal cds first. i'm betting spotify isn't gonna hav wierd 90s classics?prophetone
- i'll give it a go at some point thoprophetone
- if your premium you can put anything on your devices for offline usagefourth
