New plugin for showing you how many sites have access to what you do on any website. Pretty interesting.

This is real nice. I use Ghostery extension in Chrome for blocking these... The list of blocked trackers pops up for a second every time I visit a site and it's often 10+ trackers per site.

Firefox's New Browser Will Keep Brands From Stalking You
Online advertising is more than just annoying. It can also violate users’ privacy through tracking technology meant to help target ads and measure response. users have long had a range of tools at their disposal to combat aggressive or nosey ad-tech. But these tools often require users to install new software or poke around in their browser's settings. Today, mozilla, the company behind the popular firefox browser, said it will take more aggressive measures to protect users' privacy.

I've always said that I don't mind tasteful advertising. I realize people need to pay the bills, and make a living from certain sites. But, most sites go overboard with this shit. Ads up and down the sides, videos playing, overlay ads blocking the whole screen. It's too much.
So, I use ublock origin on all my browsers which blocks most of that shit. I do allow a few sites to get through, but most are blocked.
- Ads per se aren't the problem, it's - as Imbecile's post above points out - the pervasive hyper-tracking that's the problem these days.Nairn
