Have you seen this? Sony made a super compact full frame camera that deliver top quality images (reviews says) for a stupid price compare to Canon and Nikon full frame cameras.
Iam really interested... maybe i will sell my Canon 60D kit for that baby!

I like how it looks. Is the viewfinder digital?

Good video review over there:

A year or two ago and I would have been all over this. Though may wait it out a few years to see what's out there before changing system. My fuji xpro1 is pretty damn amazing image wise and has plenty of life left in it.

Wait to see what Kai Wong at DigitalRev says.

- I guess Zack Arias was right when he said the DSLR is dead.Continuity
- If they provide me the FM2 body in digital... done. I loved that camera.
jfletcher - Yup. If it is actually like an Fm2 = I'm done too. Perfect camera found. No more searching.inteliboy
- dslr is not dead til they give me all that buttons on a smaller body.pango

Meanwhile, over at Canon, they seem fixated on medium format. Meh.
- makes sense... I would invest in a medium format camera, but no hasselblad, the cost is to much...tank02

Maybe i will wait 1 more year... to see where this is all going.
What I like about my Canon 60D is how the case is super tough and can take rain, wind and i can even drop it in the rocks and it still functionning.
- The Sony is weather sealed, probably better than the 60D (I'd guess they are aiming at the semi pros - mkiii, D600/800)formed

I am sold on the Sony. My Nikon D800 just weighs a freaking ton. Add the Nikkor 24-70 and battery grip and it is just a pain (I've actually developed tennis elbow from using it...part time!).
The downside are the lenses. There is nothing really interesting, imho. I'll wait until there are faster examples. F4 is just not worth paying a lot for (granted, they are half the cost of my Nikkor glass, but I don't want two lenses for everything). I honestly think they are dropping the ball there....4 lenses and all but one are slow (Zeiss I guess means something to some people, but I'll take fast please).
Hopefully they are just trying to keep costs down and will come out with more soon.

^ In all fairness, though, the A7 can take Nikon, Canon and Zeiss lenses, adapted. It would be a good stopgap solution until faster own-lenses become available.
- It would also be a good way to mitigate losses if you've invested in a lot of good Canon glass already.Continuity
- though good glass holds value pretty well, it is the body that plummetsformed
- Yup, true.Continuity

but it defeats the purpose of getting a lighter body. My D800 is awesome, no way am I going to stick a weight like my Nikkor 24-70 on a light body, it would defeat the purpose entirely.
Also, that requires buying an adapter (and that Sony looks fairly expensive, could be wrong, but it ain't just some ring!)
I think it is a big mistake and hey won't get people adopting until they offer pro level glass. I'll sell all my stuff the moment they do, until then I wait (and look for Fuji's full frame xpro...fingers crossed)

Well, true. If it was a ring, it wouldn't be too bad, though you're right about the weight. I'm remembering the time I used the 85mm L, and what a fucking weight that was on my 7D. Can only imagine what that fatboy would feel like on the A7.

I'm pleased sony have ditched the SLT DSLRs.
those cams which lose 30% light to a super fast autofocus motor. I'd rather have the light and a normal focus speed. Was particularly annoying as the NEX range were better in low light than the DSLR's because of this reason.
Thankfully they got rid of it. Should be good now as they make killer sensors and great features (like high burst and v good HDR composites) and do great video. and the best electronic view finders you can get (and they need to be good to lure classic optical view finder fans away).
but im not sold on its looks. i get its trying to look more like their compact system cams likes the nex 6 (pic below) but im not sure.
- That pop-up flash looks ridiculous.Continuity
- his name is Carl, he's not a simple popup flashbenfal99
- Lol it does look a bit like walle (or johnny 5 for the oldies). But you can tilt it for ceiling bounce!Hombre_Lobo

so, the conclusion is let's all wait one more year to see where this is all going.

I am just waiting for lenses, then I'll sell all my Nikon gear (thankfully the Nikkor glass retains its value and I've gotten a good year of use from the D800).
My guess is we'll see other follow suit. Why have a big, heavy camera when you can have something lighter.
HL - the look has grown on me. It is similar to the Olympus OM-D. The simplicity and solid look is working for me (now).

- What lens? Looks like the 30mm given the compression. But they do have a 50 1.4 which would show off the shallow dof more.Hombre_Lobo
