this is pretty ironic, and of course funny. Seems like the NSA's biggest downfall is the NSA.
i wonder how this convo is playing out.
"Hey lets build a huge data center"...
"ok, how will we handle all the data?"
"dont worry about that, we're the NSA!"

Sounds about like the same approach to the healthcare.gov website, which cost $634 MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS FOR A WEBSITE.
http://www.digitaltrends.com/opi…
DrudgeReport was full of links to articles about the problems with the website, you know, to slam Obama of course. Yet every comment from someone who actually understands technology that was interviewed said that it would be hard to anticipate the volume to the site initially, and that plenty of websites have issues that need to be worked out after launch.
- $634 million, shit?
I would have done it for $633 millionmoldero - Meanwhile at DigitalTrends.com

Sorry to hijack a thread about the data center, but since government waste is related, here are some more articles on the healthcare site.
"Programmer says 'looks like nobody tested it'"
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-5052…This headline actually says the following, and links to a .js page, seriously:
"Craaaaaaaaazy Code..."
https://www.healthcare.gov/marke…- have a look at that js, it's a monsterprophetone
- to be fair, 75% of that file is language translation stringshereswhatidid
- It still looks like a massive hack that's been done on the back of poorly planned programming.mikotondria3

Who was contracted to build the obamacare website?
- NSAinteractive.commoldero
- is that right? i was wondering this myself. the irony would be a company that got paid that much, only to dump it back into the govt, thus it got 634 mil richer O_0xpxhxoxexnxixx

That quote is right though. whether talking about the data center or healthcare.gov.
we have a country which prides itself on tech, and makes claims to be the home of the next best thing. We have an issue like healthcare pop up a few years ago, and in all that time we cant roll out a website that has been stress tested at least.
Then you have a giant organization like the NSA which claims the most advanced spying shit , and they cant put together a data center without fires melting their servers & storage.

NO, The NSA did not build the Obamacare website.
The homepage was apparently built by Development Seed - http://developmentseed.org
The backend was built by CGI Federal http://www.cgi.com/en/us-federal….

This is a good article about the site, and about the two companies I listed above - http://www.washingtonpost.com/bl…

For MG33:

"We estimate the cms-free healthcare.gov will require approximately 30 less servers than current cms-based implementations in the department. That's because no matter how many visits the website gets, we only require one server to pre-generate the website's content and push it to a content distribution network for public access."

I wonder what went wrong

- "$363 million spent on technology-related costs to the healthcare exchanges – the bulk of which ($88 million) went to CGI Federal"... still a ridiculous amount of money for a site but hardly $635 mil.IRNlun6
- ...went to CGI Federal"... still a ridiculous amount of money for a site but hardly $635 mil.IRNlun6
- where does 600 mill come from?
who is right?yurimon - A poorly written headline that seems like the writer didn't even read his own article.IRNlun6

It became aware of its own wrong-doing and sacrificed itself.
