@fyoucher1
I totally understand about the project descriptions.
The project descriptions are a pretty big compromise on my part. And here's why:
I would LOVE for these to be HTML text that I can style accordingly.
The theme does have a build in description window that appears/disappears when you scroll and when you first view a project.
However this content is not integrated as part of the 'slideshow' - it is simply a seperate container that content from the admin is piped into.
If someone wants to help me further hack up this WP theme I could definitely use the help! I'm not asking for someone to do the work for me - maybe just point me in the right direction and tell me what I need to be editing to achieve the desired effect. And believe me when I say I broke the theme many times trying to figure out how to achieve this.

Looks lovely.
Some feedback (viewing on Chrome btw):
Functionality works great using a mouse/wacom. However, trying to navigate around using the magic trackpad is impossible. The littleist of swipes causes two or even three scrolls. I'm not sure if the same thing happens on an iPad/phone.Not crazy about how it's resizing the content "AS" you're resizing the browser window (responsive aspect), gets sloppy (you can see other areas of the site and it repositions itself all over the place). Perhaps, change the content around AFTER the view has been changed/resized.
For the section copy, it's centered horizontally on the white background. This probably looks good on an iPad/phone. However, on a desktop there's a TON of white space on both sides, too much. I'm on a 27" iMac but my browser window only is about 60% of the screen real estate. Perhaps check the device/res and then stick to having it max as far as 300 pixels or so from the left nav.
About/Contact sections, maybe spice that up just a tad bit. Maybe it's something as simple as throwing some of that green somewhere or using a lighter shade of gray for some of the text (similar to how you're doing on the portfolio copy). Right now it kinda just looks like a big block of text, no real hierarchy.
You position yourself as a "freelancer / solo-ist". That's not an issue right now and that's what you probably are. However, if you begin working with larger clients, this can become an issue (basing this on my experience). Perhaps a suggestion, simplify this down to just Derek Kapa Design as a 'business'. Get rid of any items that single you out as a solo entity, generalize it.

love the big images, clean type and arrow navigation
I think there needs to be something impactful when you first arrive so you are curious and want to explore more before you are given instructions. A big image or a text statement
I think the sidebar is distracting and looks like your are hedging your bets with which navigation the user should use .. I would pick one or the other.
I would remove the sidebar or at least collapse it so it just shows your DK logo and the viewer focuses on the work rather than having their attention divided.
I think these guys do a great job with focus

Inertial scrolling on magic mouse is a nightmare to counter.
Previously a scrollwheel would fire once when you scrolled, and continue to fire only if you continued to scroll. The magic mouse fires a whole string of events with deceleration, which is nice if you want to throw a page, but fucks up any other scrollwheel interaction (unless you write stupid amounts of code to identify and isolate inertial scrolling).
And yeah, we shouldn't fuck with the scroll action, usability, blah blah..
Nice work DK, let us know how you find OnSite.
- Best thing to happen to magic mouse is MagicPrefs - use it: http://magicprefs.co…d_rek
- I'll let you know about OnSite!d_rek
- I don't have one. It's anyone else using a site that listens for scroll events (like my own one).sktIII

Came out really nice - you showed me a version of this ages ago.
Works well and work looks great.

you should put higher res pictures because of the responsiveness on a 27" monitor they get pixelated..

I've been searching for that kind of jquery code to use on a site.
Does anyone know if there is something like that available without being a wordpress theme?Great work btw!

"What makes you different than Freelancer / Studio X?
I hate these types of questions. But if you insist:"To which I answer—
"Eh? I insisted nothing - I was reading your about section and you wrote a series of questions to yourself?"Nothing wrong with the narrative here, but there's something wrong with the form.

The mix of Very Much Constant And Solidly-There left hand nav and Freezie-Breezie Modern Scrolling UI feels a bit awkward - not that they don't work together, rather that something feels redundant and unconsidered when you feel the need to waste your landing content with instructions on how to use the site.
Can you not fill up that landing content with something the user might actually want to see or read, whilst providing hints or prompts at how the site works?
Nice work otherwise though!
- Excellent feedback about the landing content. Much appreciated!d_rek

This is great stuff.

Nicely done. The green on white is a little bit hard to pick up. Also, the project intro text seems slightly strangely positioned. I'd be tempted to put it over to the left like you've done on the about page, and try to grid it up with the left menu.
Good stuff though.

The responsive site is great and really like the work. The copywriting is spot on also. Good job!

Nice dude, the work and your folio.
I feel like you could probably make the about page a bit more interesting however, maybe follow a similar flow to how the projects work for the sections..?
- _niko0
love it, i'm going to steal it :)
The only thing i would add is a visual indicator for each project in the works landing sections, so when you go to Ten fast feet, maybe have a bit of the work or a related enlement on the first frame to go along with the text.

congrats! great work.

Nice site and solid work. My only criticism is in selection. I probably wouldn't show the GoodSweat logo. It seems out of place with the rest of your logos.
And the "Taxi Cab Kids" doesn't seem as strong when compared to your "Ten Fast Feet" work. Good stuff.
