I know, I know, but a client wants their logo inserted onto a word document template.
Is there a way of locking down imported graphics and text boxes in word without them looking ghosted/faded on the page?

you can "hide" them in the header/footer ...

tried that but it ghosts out the graphic, the client wants to see the graphic as it should be in Word.
Not sure why as i see it as a good thing, because they can then concentrate on getting the typing done.
I want to lock the graphic down so it cant be moved or any type 'address, tel numbers' etc edited. Keeping the graphic as it should look.

pre print the letterhead then

They're obvs sending .docs by email and don't want folks seeing the headers greyed out when they open them (in word) at the other end.
This is not what word is for...
If the letterhead isn't in the header it'll always be anchored to the text.
Use the header and if they want it to look the same everywhere tell them thats why pdf.
- ie. stick it in the header and show them how to print to pdf.kingsteven

yeah, told them all that, load of balls really, but then again I've told them that it looks ok when saved to pdf or printed out.
They'll just have to lump it. If they aren't editing it then there's no need for them to see it on screen anyway, besides it's still viewable on screen.
- anything they send you as .doc, xls say "i can't open this on my computer", and get them to resend as pdf...kingsteven

the greyed out stuff is just the preview, print it and you'll see that it prints at full opacity.
- yep, know that, shows up in pdf ok too. Try telling them that jezzzzuss!!mirrorball

Set all the text styles to be 50% lighter, and then just tell them they must have their screen brightness up too high.

Go to the Page Layout tab/ribbon, and in the Page Background section, in the Color dropdown, select Fill Effects and select your image. Done.
- any idea on how to lock them on the page so they cant move the graphic?mirrorball
- that locks it, no?monospaced
- with out it becoming dimmed/ghosted? nope :(mirrorball
- no, setting it as a background doesn't ghost it, I just checkedmonospaced

There is no way to lock graphics, but the closest (not very close) is to place them in the header/footer space, which has to be manually turned on to gain access to it, which most people won't bother doing (and not by accident either).
