Hang in there man - no real scientific advice here but this is what I got. I sustained a major neck injury in college athletics, I was a wrestler since I was 7 and it was devastating to have almost broken my neck, ultimately ending my collegiate career.
While I was recovering and doing rehab I met a guy who spoke about positive thinking and mental projection - he was a former athlete who sustained a major injury as well. He asked me to imagine myself being 100% healthy and to also focus on the things that I would like to do but never had. He asked me to focus on the activities that I enjoyed doing but to also imagine myself doing activities I never had but wanted to such as rock climbing, kayaking, etc.
This little exercise helped to keep me focused on my desire to recover and mentally I was able to envision myself healthy again. Everyone says to "stay positive" but to actually take the time to meditate on specific activities really helped in a speedy recovery. I believed it also kept me from losing my mind during a long period of being unable to move.
Totally not related AT ALL but wanted to share. Hang in there man!

Thanks guys!
Definitely wanted to re-state that I DON'T have cancer.
Very gratefully a part of an experimental stem-cell kidney transplant.
I know ill be okay. Chemo still sucks - but it could be a LOT worse. Thanks everyone for their support - and, again, if you all got some good home-hacks I could implement (very, very weak, at the moment) that would be awesome too!

Hey, hope you get well. My aunt lives with us and she has high risk cancer. The most dangerous about chemo is that you lose your body defenses... She drinks a lot of water, and also eats a lot of vegetables, fish, and keeps a good spirit. I found the worse of cancer is when starts affecting your autonomy, until then we are planning to support and enjoy life with my aunt.
