This is a serious question... Say someone comes up with a shoebox idea, say a certain person has a patent for a shoebox idea... Say a large company that utilizes 3 stripes heavily in their brand wants to use your idea for a multi-million dollar elite athlete. Fuck it, motherfucking Adidas tried to jack me this week. I worked directly for Adidas Global basketball, I had been working on their 2013 NBA supershoot, D ROSE 4 shoe campaign and all things global basketball. I came to my creative director after seeing the new D ROSE 4 brand strategy, a shoebox idea I had been working on for over 10 years fit the design, concept and brand perfectly as they were looking for a new shoebox design. I showed the entire D ROSE 4 design team after having each person individually sign NDA's. They all loved it within 2 minutes, they said they were going to buy it, prototype it and use it perhaps as the signature branded shoe box. They initially said they were putting together an offer for the packaging rights, 3 weeks go by, they soon start to refuse to negotiate any money after telling me to "come up with a price and terms". One more week goes by, they say they are extending my freelance contract, they go to LA for the supershoot, while they are gone, their meek project manager emails me and tells me my contract has been terminated for no reason. Shoe box is off the table, yet they continue to talk about using my design for the shoebox like I don't even exist. I was working 80+ hours a week for them, and didn't do anything to deem my contract terminated.
Question, I can sue them if they signed NDA's and use the likeness of my shoebox design? Anyone had to sue a client?!?! This is corporate monster of a client and I will do so, gladly.

Dead serious. The creative director at Adidas Global basketball is Eric V., senior designer Joe C... I sat right next to both of them for almost a month. The shoebox design was a student project I did back in 2000. Those cheap bastards loved my idea, and wanted to jack it anyway they could after telling me they will buy the rights. That is my story, if you see a lawsuit in the near future involving a shoebox and an idea, this is where it started. Not trying to be dramatic, just fight for the rights of ideas. Corporate motherfuckers will do anything to get ahead, it's a dirty, sick world when you see how things really work. Even when you think you're on a team of people that respect and care about you.

They signed it before, no one has see my shoebox, unless you have a signed NDA ;) Just remember that... Google broke, homeless "Tesla". He tried to give away his ideas for free... Great guy, tragic story.

I have every email, every NDA signed by the entire team. No to be slanderous, but certain companies can't even afford $35 to retouch an image. It's sad how brands can look so amazing on a global scale and so shitty internally. All I am saying is keep an eye out on packaging by Adidas. The wheels are in motion for a lawsuit.

The next D ROSE 4 shoe is all about angles... That is all I am saying, I personally designed the look for the entire campaign. I signed an NDA, so I can't so any of the work. But in a few months I gladly will. Cheap motherfuckers.

ha and still no shoe box design. if it is that plastic bubble thing im wondering if you patented the real info. Not just patent troll shit like a "air package" but something like how its made. Like the molds, the materials, processes, etc. Perhaps if you were cool about it and didnt run your mouth making ridiculous claims you could have used their resources to fully develop it. Now you can burn bridges and bitch and moan like you claim some property on the moon. Or it is america you could try to sue them for something like 10k bucks and they'll pay it just not to deal with it or any negative PR. However it will probably not be a good long term idea.
