After a couple of weeks of using it on my phone and iPad I'm really liking it. Any non-flat app icons look pretty dated in comparison.
- They looked dated the moment they were released ;-)formed

It is a bit shit really, just a re-skin by a very good product designer.
Some of the attention to detail is missing, errors you'd expect from a junior web designer. Is it just being lazy and rushed out?
Bring back the other guy to design this stuff. Let's face it the whole ios look was based on their widgets on the desktop from back in 2005/6 ?They should have wiped the slate clean here and tried somthing new completely.- yeah and piss off every user, putting millions with no clue on how to use their phone that was fine 15 min before.ESKEMA

THEY CAN'T EVEN CENTER THE THREE DOTS PROPERLY. Good god.
This company has gone retarded without Steve Jobs cracking his whip. They simply don't give a shit anymore, and are now unafraid to make mistakes. Apple will be drifting along with PC companies like Dell soon enough.
It was Apple's attention to detail that got it where it is today. And they are losing it quickly.
- so sadhans_glib
- Yeah. iPhones are starting to look like those shit dell phones from years ago. They better step it up or DOOOOMED!monospaced
- it's that attitude that will cause long term problems. hey we sell shit-loads of product - no need to care, right?hans_glib
- people start to notice, and go elsewhere.hans_glib

- Mono why do you always need an exact date?? What's with that? I'm saying they're slipping like they've never slipped before.iCanHazQBN
- before. Just because I can't provide you with an exact date doesn't mean they aren't slipping.iCanHazQBN
- And these dots aren't hidden in some obscure corner of the software.. its RIGHT THERE on the Home screen....iCanHazQBN
- ...and yet STILL nobody there has noticed this or bothered to fix it. How many testers do they have over there???iCanHazQBN
- They haven't slipped, actually. This year alone they made more money than all their competitors combined.monospaced
- Also, since you've been saying it for years, I have to eventually ask about your timeline.monospaced
- I mean, you've been wrong all along, unless you meant they'd die sometime in 2020.monospaced
- What are you talking about? I haven't been saying this for years. Just this year.. since all the ios7 stuff.iCanHazQBN
- And I am not talking about slipping financially. I'm talking about their design slipping... which will then lead to the financial slip...iCanHazQBN
- ..the financial slip. Apple's appeal is their design quality. That is what has separated them from other companies.iCanHazQBN
- This is a fucking disgrace to honest. Pagination not centralised...was this a junior UI designer who designed this? I actually canceled my order when I saw your screenshot, thanksBullitt
- i didn't notice until you said something. and i find myself not caring.doesnotexist
- You don't care because you're probably a passive designer who shouldn't be in this business.iCanHazQBN
- It is poor and a sign of the times over at Apple. Not good enough.RW
- And it's not just in the folders, the dots aren't even centered on the Home screen.iCanHazQBN
- you're probably right. i should end my miserable existence.doesnotexist
- Last time i checked, this was a design forum... god forbid people discuss design here. Yeah, go kill yourself...iCanHazQBN

When you say "soon enough," exactly how much longer until Apple is going down? Seems like we've been waiting for years as every month someone says that very same thing. Are we talking a few months or 15 years?
- I ask because I'm a stockholder and you seem to know a lot more than thousands of analysts getting paid to predict this stuff.monospaced
- Not one analyst has mentioned the misaligned three dots on an app folder. They'll be kicking themselves later, AMIRIGHT?!monospaced
- these niggles we're pointing out are sympotmatic of a change in ethos within the company. Short-term it will make little difference. But long term it will cause damagehans_glib
- difference, but if the rest of the company are cutting corners in the same way, then long term the brand will be devaluedhans_glib
- So. 6 weeks then?monospaced
- don't be an arse - you know it takes longer than that. but it will happen if they continue not to care.hans_glib
- and i'm surprised that, as a designer, this lack of attention to detail doesn't bother youhans_glib
- I didn't say it didn't bother me. Never. Ever. Not even a little. But seriously. How long until they're down?monospaced
- I mean. They've been saying this for so long it's starting to sound like a bitter joke now. Meanwhile Apple is making the cash.monospaced
- Mega
Fanboy
Monospacedutopian - Of course they're still making cash. They're riding the wave that Steve set up for them. Don't be so shortsighted.iCanHazQBN
- who knows how long? i'm a designer not an analyst ffs. All I'm saying is that it's not a good sign when a company starts taking their customers for grantedhans_glib
- taking their customers for granted.hans_glib
- and as a closet fanboy, i am disappoint by this apparent change in atttiude. hopefully it's a blip and they'll revert to their old wayshans_glib
- old ways again.hans_glib
- I'm not a fanboy, I'm a stockholder and I happen to think they not only make great products, but they will keep doing somonospaced
- keep doing so for a very long time.monospaced
- They stopped making good products when they kicked Steve out, and started again when Steve came back.iCanHazQBN
- They need a ruthless leader with a sense of design. Someone who gives a damn about the company and not someone just thereiCanHazQBN
- ..someone just there to collect a paycheck.iCanHazQBN
- I guess we have to agree to disagree.monospaced
- let's hope sohans_glib

We're getting upset over some fucking dots now? I'm all for attention to detail, but to point at that and say that Apple is doomed is just dumb. Name a single OS that has not one misaligned or somewhat oddly placed piece of interface. Why does every other company get a pass with this stuff, but one oh so tiny inconsequential slip from Apple and it's sell all the stock?
- There are numerous errors and poor design (or lack of attention) throughout iOS7formed
- It's not doomed because of "some fucking dots". It's doomed because nobody there cares anymore.iCanHazQBN
- ...and that is blatantly evident.iCanHazQBN
- But that's just what you think, iCanHaz... but I can fuckign ASSURE you people there care.monospaced

Thinking of buying the new iPad, should I be excited about ios7???
- monospaced applauds youutopian
- I mean yes, yes, yesutopian
- I think you should buy something better than an iPad. They're overvalued and shit. iOS7 is so ugly your eyes will bleed and eventually fall outmonospaced

Mono - if you are a share holder, then you should be concerned that their stock is down, what, 40%? That's pretty real. I think it is an accurate reflection of the company - they are still rolling in cash, hence the 500+ price, BUT they have shown almost 0 innovation or anything new since Jobs, so no one is confident that they can continue on this trajectory of perfection.
Remember, they are pricing for "perfection", not new markets, margins, etc., like every other company. Look at Google, they have insane diversification and are taking risks on new markets. Their stock price just went up 10% (woohoo, owner here!). That reflects their trajectory.
So yeah, dots are kinda silly, but when you are paying for perfection, you expect more. Especially when the phone itself is well behind the market.
They'll keep making money off at least the next 2 phone versions, but unless they keep coming out with perfect products, they'll falter.
That's the point everyone is making.

@formed
As a shareholder, I'm not down 40%, I'm up about 400%. Also, you are putting way more connection between stock price and iOS interface blunders. One doesn't reflect the other.
- So you bought your stock around 2002?utopian
- OMG, I meant to say 4000% percent, not a fucking weak 400%. I bought it in the '90s.monospaced
- I bought it right after they hired Steve back, when I was a Freshman in college.monospaced
- But if you want to talk about Apple as a company, there's a better thread for that. This one is about iOS 7monospaced
- Very good buy, I do wish that I retained my Apple stock. However it did buy my first home.utopian
- So now you see... I'm not a fanboy, I don't even own their new shit. I just like their company.monospaced
- And I use their products to build my career and make a living. Like most people here.monospaced

^ so what... this video shows two points: a) Word is bloated beyond proportion and b) someone has too much time on his hands
that being said: I really can’t get behind all the passion and energy that is spent here over an mobile phone operating system... not that it’s not important or interesting but damn, your life doesn’t depend on it, does it...
- is anyone taking that seriously? it's just a link & this *is* the right thread, tho, i would like to meet the guy whose life does depend on it.plash

I actually know some designers over at Apple and they have confirmed that they are outfitted with PCs running MS Office and that is, in fact, how they design. I mean, with Macs, what the fuck else are they supposed to use? You can't run pro design software on Macs, something creatives have been begging for since the early '90s when PCs started dominating the desktop publishing world. So it makes sense they use MS Word. Give them a break, it's not like they have tons of cash sitting around to get anything better.
- *new post on ios7 thread, woah, gotta chime right in as if I got nothing better to do*pressplay

- How are you not astounded at these errors from the supposed leader in design???iCanHazQBN
- Even a shitty design student would center that thing properly. But we're talking about Apple here FFS.iCanHazQBN
- Don't fret you are not alone. I too think they've fallen off and it could well be the beginning of a new lower quality eraRW
- There has always been annoying badly design shit in Apple's software. What the hell you on about?inteliboy
- No, it's not excusable. Though neither should Android or Win8 - both of which have some suspect UI shit going on.inteliboy
