Seems alot of debate going on in some tech circles.
wordpress is more popular but is it better?
some say seo is better on wordpress?
some techs say joomla, more scalable, more secure more rich of a platfrom? Drupal is enterprise more developer oriented less designer oriented? cumbersome.
Can we settle this once for at least this year.

If Drupal is good enough for Obama then ....

3 very different systems. None can legitimately be called "best" overall. Use the one that you are most comfortable with and will accomplish the goals of the site you're developing.
Disclaimer: 95% of the sites I build and maintain are using WordPress

whatever you are comfortable with.

- Joomla is a swiss army knife that has a ton of crap, most of which you'll never use, and it's an incredible resource hog.
- Drupal is very stripped down and allows you to install everything you need individually, but is a bit more technically oriented.
- Wordpress is simple and great a content, but a bit limited beyond that, although you can get it to do almost anything.Generally, I use Wordpress for small-scale sites and Drupal for larger-scale sites or sites that require integration with other systems like CRM or eCommerce and I completely stay away from the mess that is Joomla.

I have found there are more robust plugins available for Joomla.
Richer, deeper feature set.
Whereas WordPress is really geared towards small websites and bloggers. Lots of plugins, but not as many "deep" features.

hereswhatidid:
JomSocial is a very feature rich Facebook clone. It's a piece of cake to install, and has hundreds of add-ons by 3rd party developers....just for a single plugin.
And I've yet to find a WP plugin to match ZhGoogleMaps. It's about the most feature rich off-the-shelf plugin to customize Google Maps out there. WP has some plugins that come close, but ZhGoogleMaps does stuff like KML layers for vector overlays on your map, custom animation for markers.
There are also a lot of ACL (access control levels) plugins, since Joomla was made for multiple users from the get-go (Does WordPress still require that ugly WordPressMU hack?)
That makes Joomla a preferred choice for collaborative editing and intranets.
