FWIW I recently discovered that GIMP rasterizes all text layers, so they effectively become non-editable outside of Photoshop.
I tried using GIMP a few years ago just to see if I could break away from Photoshop, but I only lasted about an hour.

I've never tried this creative cloud stuff, but it looks and sounds interesting. They're also boasting how they got better shit in their Photoshop in the cloud app, that you're not gonna find in the desktop app. Which can be pretty interesting because you can use one app amongst everyone.
