santa monica pier (have a cold beer and some tatsy sea food at Bubba Gump), take a bike trip om venice beach. Also I enjoyed Universal studios, LA. They have this new 3D transformers attraction. its fucking great (went 4 times in a row) obviously you need 3D glasses to experience the whole thing.

3 weeks is loads of time to see a lot of stuff. Half teh fun about California is driving! You can definitely put Palm Springs on teh list for some camp architecture and hanging out, and you can hit Joshua Tree from there too. Horizon Hotel is really weird and cool:

If you stop by San Clemente, do it on a weekend day and do yourself a favor and go to the Ramos House Cafe... Friggin' excellent breakfast. Well worth any wait.
