week old but interesting.

Good video... Google has improved, but I'm still waiting for Google to design elegant and sophisticated interfaces...
- i_monk0
Design can wait, I wish they could get basic functionality on their search to work. It doesn't search for what I want, it searches for what it thinks I meant to type, or what most other people typed when they searched for similar things. The fucking thing even bolds words completely unrelated to what I searched for. And it assumes anyone speaking English wants American spellings of things.
- are you being serious?monospaced
- Yes, mono, I am. I shouldn't have to go to Advanced to get it to look for what I actually asked for.i_monk
- Specific details matter. I would hope you, as someone in the design industry, would know that.i_monk
- you are insane if you think google search is poor.fadein11
- you are using it wrongfadein11
- I am obsessed with details, but I think Google's search is pretty damn good. My experience is opposite from yours.monospaced
- it ONLY bolds words you searched for, it ONLY searches for what you search for, and it's American because Google ismonospaced
- You can turn that off i_monk. You can also change the default language. Learn how to use the internets!instrmntl
- So, what do use that is better than Google?nb

I really liked the way this video has been done.

It may not be completely there yet but in the last year and a bit they have transformed the way they design - thats a fact.
Google+ is superb and google now http://www.google.co.uk/landing/…

@i_monk sometimes when you search for something even on english it assumes you were trying to search for something else, that is, trying to be so smart that it searches for something else assuming you misspelled something. When that happens you have to click on the link they provide under the search box that says "search for X instead".
The latest changes they made to the layout are a bit shit, before you had the options to alter the search results on the left visible all the time (past 24 hours, past week, past month, etc). Now they hid those under a button.
- don't you guys know anything about search modifiers?monospaced
- obviously not mono ha. surprising.fadein11
- yeah, read the fucking manual, I get youernexbcn
- i_monk0
I'm aware of this, ernexbcn, but I shouldn't have to tell it twice. It didn't use to assume (or take liberties) like this, and I just wish it would give me the option right up front to search only for exactly what I entered, in the tense/spelling/etc I used.
This is just a random (probably not the best) example:
dog/dogs or monkey/monkeys is almost understandable, but "pet"?, and returning "attached" or "fastened" instead of "fastening"?Boolean terms are fine, but I shouldn't need to know it'll look for "pet" or "attached" and have to exclude them when I search for "monkeys" or "fastening".
- You're example sucks because you don't know what you're searching for and are complaining about assistance.albums
- ummm, fastening = attaching, and dogs and monkeys are pets, I think Google did the best it fucking could POSSIBLEmonospaced
- also, have you not tried SEARCH MODIFIERS!?!?!?? dude, seriously, try putting it in quotes to startmonospaced

- I disagree, i_monk is the one spazzing to the point of screenshotting and highlighting text to make a pointmonospaced

Maybe you want things to be "nearly psychic" and decide for you, but I don't.
Good day, douches.
- < fears education & is therefore unable to seek out useful information.albums
- please, tell us what results you EXPECT for "dog monkeys fastening" and how Google fucked up.monospaced
- albums0
i_douche,
If you don't want Google to search for a term simply place a - in front of it. So append this to your query. -pets, -fastener
As mono said, modifiers.
I do love public displays of angry ignorance though so keep on trucking.

Watching that video, I don't agree with their approach to branding. Mainly for it's inconsistency and lack of vision. It's also dull, much like that video.

QBN forum is critiquing Google?
I'm fucking laughing out loud.
- instrmntl0
@albums
It's great to put down others to better position yourself. Unfortunately, that doesn't make you a better designer. Looking at your work, seems like you have little experience with major brands. Keep it real playa.
