My real world social life was in decline, gasping its last breaths when Facebook came along, which killed it stone dead. Now everyone of my 'real world' friends, and all my facebook friends have really stopped using it all as well, so I'm left with feeds from companies in whom I sort of share an interest, development, design, techno, and that's it. It feels like the lights have come on at the end of the party and I haven't got a date or a ride home so I've drifted over to try and join in some conversations of people I don't know, only to discover they're just robots broadcasting spam through tinny speakers. Dark shadows appear over the windows and the voices stop....

Twitter is the new Second Life.

I never got tweeter's purpose, I have an account but I feel absolutely no need to check it, I know some of my friends use it like it's text messaging.
Instagram on the other hand, is amazing. I like it better than facebook. I follow some friends and other designers that choose to post work progress instead of cat or food photos.

facebook asks what i'm thinking. twitter asks
what i'm doing. foursquare asks where i am. the internet has turned into a crazy girlfriend

i use twitter only to follow industry (designers, developers) experts. sometimes they would tweet or retweet useful links.

Do most people here use Instagram?
- ohhhhhsnap0
i use twitter to follow industry experts, and to tweet writings from my blog on design. so it's a way to network and see what folks in the design community are doing. late 2012 i decided even if i really dislike facebook/twitter bs... i have to join in b/c social networking is IN in webdesign.

instagram is more than a photo app to add retro filters?

I signed up for twitter about a year ago and still wonder why I ever did.

I have amused myself in the past on Twitter, attempting to write long or complicated ideas (nonsense stuff though) that fit into the character limit. Its a good challenge for me because I write long, but I couldn't maintain my interest beyond a few weeks because it becomes painfully apparent that absolutely nobody ever reads anything that gets posted. Its just a place where companies can broadcast words at each other, like battleships firing giant corks at each other in the night... nobody makes any impact, nobody gets hurt, nothing changes, nobody achieves anything. Everyone just keep firing corks into the dark.
- There is a lot of noise, but its very easy to filter. I can see why people do take a look and think what you think though.webazoot

I have a troll account on twitter and I fuck around with narcissistic dutch celebs..its fun.
- the fun part is that they're too dumb to even realize it.sureshot
- What is really crazy about the world right now, is how much weight Tweets are given in the media. News reports are often reporting on tweets, and it's common to********
- hear people talk about "how the world is" but they're getting their opinion from what they see on Twitter. But, most of the real shit is probably trolling.********

Something is technically wrong.
Thanks for noticing—we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.
