Soon I'm going to evening class to study a language and l need some nice quality stationery. Especially a quality smudge free pen. Any ideas and pointers most welcome. :-)

Find a Japanese bookstore and then repeat as stationary store.

You can also go with Duller

Delfonics

But again, all these are more or less pretty looking stuff but not exactly awesome at writing.

just go to class and learn - stop worrying about what you look like.

What does studying a language have to do with the type of paper you use?
Anyway, the most effective way to learn a language is listening and speaking (getting your mouth to move in ways it never has)... not writing things down. Same as how you learned your native tongue as a child.
What language are you taking up?

i would recommend a pencil - you're going to need to erase.

Paperchase if you're a big girl's blouse or the London Graphic Design centre if you're a wannabe turtle-necked designista.
If you're feeling really flouncy you could have a mooch in Falkiner's on Holborn.
If you're just an average human being, WH Smiths.

WH Smiths sounds so quaint on here :)
