i made an account to test it.
It actually looks pretty good. Minimal interface at last! Microsoft is finally getting this! But iam afraid of what kind of gravy Microsoft will try to push me around it... Like Bing shit and stuff I dont want. I dunno.

It looks like 75% done, in the design department, dont you think?
I tried to create one with my first name but I couldnt. That's suck. I guess they are all taken.

It's OK, but I'll stick with Gmail

My initial reaction is that it's actually pretty slick. Much better and more responsive than hotmail. Also, it's interesting to see how the brand is branching out from the new windows logo.

of course we will all stick to Gmail, ALL of stuff are already in gmail... it would be to complicated to start over elsewhere. But i seriously like it and i would use it if it wasnt of all the data and setting and contact and history already in gmail.

I would suspect the primary reason for this is to use a more recognized/aligned brand than hotmail (which was an MS purchase, any some still don;t associate with MS) and most importantly, it will be for the new Win 8 phone & tablet users who need a new MS account for their products, in the exact same way that both Apple and Google want you to do when you buy their products.

i signed in with my msn account, which is my msn live account, which is my personal email. because of this i have no email in there. I understand why, but other users might not. and there is nothing to explain this. Come on MS, give people some clues!
Also, then i switched to calendars and it took me back to shitty MS live site (which has poor useablity). just launch both at the same time - how hard can it be?
Looks good. like the drop down nav bar.
no what would be good is if this synced with my outlook and other accounts and offered my a proper mail exchange for free!and 1000 free emoticons so my aunt can "personalise" her emails to me
- I'm waiting to see what they add by September for the Surface launch.ETM

The fact that Microsoft have to explain to Microsoft users what a Microsoft account is, on the landing page of the new Microsoft email service, makes me chuckle.

I opened my Outlook and instantly thought, 'Wait, I'm in my Gmail but just in different colours'... so their plan - win over from rivals.
Makes me think, in order to integrate their Skype service they had to re-write from scratch.
BBC: 'Mr Jones added that the firm would not scan email content or attachments in order to sell the information to advertisers or others.' Hmm, what's the catch? Or is it they just *can't* scan maybe?
- bug: by opening Outlook in FF, it boots me out of MSN on Mac. Great.pang

Love it. Much more cleaner than gMail. Shame that SkyDrive and Calendar have old look & feel.
Btw, if you have @hotmail.com account, you can claim @outlook.com alias (even multiple aliases).

Tried to send an email.....couldn't pass the captcha test, too many attempts....
I have a yahoo account I don't use.
I have a hotmail account I don't use.
Why should I use outlook instead of gmail? All my contacts are there and I can change the theme to make it look like outlook :)

outlook made me think that i was due to cleanup a little bit my Gmail. I pass all the settings to desactivate all the stuff that dont use... Gmail has added so much features lately that my box was all charged up with yellow arrows, stars and others visual signs I dont really need. My gmail is now way cleaner that it was.
