Looks great, even if it was £250 it would be a good deal.
And jellybean looks immense. Techno Buffalo dude switched back to android because of it. He can't praise it enough.
I want a 10 inch version! And a galaxy nexus!

Is this yet another Google FAIL in the making?

i think it's the beginning of some healthy competition for macintosh. the price point for what it is has nerds brow flippin' for real.

Gonna get one for testing purposes. Would be nice to have a flash capable tablet for casual couch browsing, as well.

- "Gonna get one for testing purposes" Hehe, geek talking. You just want the toy.benfal99
- Flash or not, it lets me have a cheap, physical device for testing on Android.ETM

MG Siegler a huge Apple fanboy loves the Nexus 7
http://techcrunch.com/2012/07/15…
The thing is, even if it's sells like crazy Google isn't making money of out these things. They are selling at cost expecting people to buy things on their media and app stores with them.
- animatedgif0
Isn't this just going to cannibalise the rest of the Android tablet market?
Doesn't seem like a smart move betting on Google Play really when they have such a poor selection of media available on it.
I mean iTunes is crazy successful, but even then the money Apple makes off it pales next to their hardware.

It's a tough fight for other companies when giants swing their weight around to sell products at a loss. It's how MS broke into the console war, at times stomping all over Sony and Nintendo - and now how Google is jumping into the mobile space. Sure Apple have piles of money though they need to sell products to survive, not billions of ads served via search and youtube.
- Apple is actually the BIGGEST mobile advertiser because of the iOS and iADs.monospaced

@inteliboy of the current generation only the Wii generated profits from day one. Both the 360 and the PS3 were selling at a loss.
But it's a whole different thing, gaming consoles manufactures make money on every game sold for their systems. The 360 started to be profitable just 2 years after launch.
- A lot of people can buy these Nexus 7 and never pay a dime to Google for contenternexbcn
- Consoles also use the same hardware for 5-7 years. Each year it survives it gets cheaper to make.animatedgif
- Tablets are updated yearly at the momentanimatedgif
- inteliboy0
True, though was thinking more the previous generation where MS stomped all over Nintendo by throwing piles of cash at the xbox team. Not that this is going to happen here with the big guns, there's a huge amount of room for competition - it's more the smaller guys like HTC that will suffer.
- uan0
actually hardware is from other companies, google choses whoever impresses them to build their next device.
the nexus 7 tablet is ASUS hardware, the nexus phone is SAMSUNG, older google phones were HTC.
- ernexbcn0
Both MS and Google started to realize they need to be involved on both the hardware and the software to deliver great things here.
- started to? they realized this over ten years ago when apple released the ipodmonospaced

Jellybean does look to have the smoothness android should have always had. Now it should compete with windows and apple in terms of responsiveness.
