Anyone get a new car recently? What's good? Looking for something in the 20k-30k range. Smallish, midsize or small SUV. Been driving VW's for the last 10 years and I think it's time for something else. Not crazy about their new body style and cheaper interiors. Any ideas?

tiguan?

Have you looked at a new VW GTI? For the money, you get an improbably high-class interior.

@_niko I'd love a Tiguan. Pretty much the only VW I like (well I like the Golf too, but they don't offer leather?!). But the lease deals suck on that right now unfortunately. I'd get a little loyalty incentive, but not much.
Looking for something pretty tech savvy, with leather, sunroof, Bluetooth and possibly Nav if it doesn't send the lease payments through the roof. Hearing good things about the new Optima. Anyone been in one of those?

Mazda CX-5 has some style to it IMO.

I lease a '12 ford focus. Its pretty nice and is only $258 per month. I've had it for a year, and now I want a Mini.
- It has bluetooth too. I can play songs on my iPhone wirelessly.Frosty_spl
- a '04 or '06 mini cooper jcw - awesome. a bit hard to ride though. perfect for track days.akrok
- with hard, i mean you feel everything that's on the road. even a tiny crack.akrok
- oh, and you do not want to drive with run-flat tiers. they will kill your ASS.akrok
- ...and your $$$. lol.akrok

Leased an Audi A3 with about $4000 down. Payments were under $350 for a 36 month 10,000 mile deal. Insurance was great too cause of it's safety rating, about $85 a month here in LA.
Got an A6 Allroad used for $12k. Still a fan of leasing though.

- I think the front end of this is totally dated and 90's looking. The side shape of the car looks nice though.CanHasQBN
- scion tC has 180HP and only $18-22k depending on the options.akrok
- RWD vs FWDwaterhouse
- hah. fair point.akrok
- ESC off! - yah.akrok
- I've thought both Toyota and Honda have been stuck in the 90s with their design language.ETM
- A lot of this car reminds me of a 90's era Supra.ETM
- the 90s were the best years of Toyota .... Celica, Supra, AE-86, MR2, even the unbreakable Tercelelektro
- today its just hybrid, hybrid, hybrid.. goog thing they have Scion, but the TC is know, but very old tech and 'cheap'elektro

I sold my A4 last year after out daughter was born and got my wife a new Jetta. I took her civic since I've now got a hell of a commute. She loves the Jetta and it's not all that dissimilar from the A4... not as quick/nimble, but the interior is pretty nice for what we paid and it's got more room in the back for the car seat.
I'm now looking at the Mini Countryman. They can get pretty pricey but I really like the size.

- and for the same money you can get a really nice range rover.sine
- lol. the purchase price is only foreplay for the Range Rover. She'll take half your house by the end of it.monNom
- yeah and soon that range rover is not covered it will break down. FJ is discontinued, might keep up the price.akrok
- Not discontinued. I hear that every year. Best 4x I have ever owned. Range Rover repairs FAR outweigh the payments. Mine sure did.lemmy_k

i just dont see the point of having a suv if you live in l.a. sure its good for big bear, but why not just rent one for that period. most likely you will be driving to work. on asphalt. also whats so fun about pumping that gas just cause you car is over weight.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Love the look and interior of the Fiat, just not sure I'd be comfortable in something so small. And the Eos is mighty fine, but the leases are a bit pricey.
@monkeyshine - did you lease a 12 or that 09 model? Also, I haven't had an SUV since 2001, but I test drove the CRV and Tiguan and really liked having the extra room. Both of those get pretty good mpg (especially the CRV). Not looking for an SUV bigger than that.
And while I'm not really a fan of the new Jetta or Passat bodies, I might still end up in one. Those are still some of the best lease deals around, and the 3 years of included maintenance ain't too shabby either.

Oh, and hatchbacks are totally fine. LOVE the A3 but I'm looking to put down as little as possible, so that's probably out of the question. But the Focus 5-door, the Prius C and the Jetta Sportswagen ain't bad at all.
- FIESTA looks better then FOCUS. i driven both. really don't see the point with FOCUS.akrok

- horrid looking thingBusterBoy

- Dope, if you are over 55 and can't afford the Bentley they lifted the design from.ETM
- thats a BS answer. sometimes you buy what you can afford.plash
- What a tacky, low-class, gaudy piece of crap. Anyone who likes this stuff has zero taste. That is final word.CanHasQBN

@ Cinco I leased a 2012 Eos Lux for $250/mo. I traded in my Audi. It's silver with red (dark...more like wine color) leather interior.
