Flash is dead. This is coming from a (now former) Flash dev/designer.

Apple, very effectively, killed Flash (and a lot of companies and careers).
Until someone kills Apple, it is dead.
- that's like saying apple killed the heroin market and career. lolpango
- ALL Apple did was create a device that didn't support it.monospaced

Boz may need to find new ways to spice up the bedroom.

What about the new 3D stuff, what happened to it?

Adobe stopped working on Flash player for Android, iPads are selling like crazy. If we are really entering a post-pc era and the post-pc devices don't have Flash I don't see comeback happening.

Mehh it's a flashback not comeback.

I don't think we're entering a post pc market but the damage is done. When Adobe stopped developing Flash for mobile it was the white flag. I just wish there was an HTML5 equivalent because nothing comes close to the creative control Flash offers, and not even close.

fuck protectionist platforms intentionally designed to break down after two years, fuck having 200 different kind of laptop adapters , fuck having no USB ports for cashing in on memory so fuck apple most of all. open source hardware is the future, and guess which type of programs will be running on them
- no usb port? when did that happened? open source hardware? android would disagree.pango
- and fuck you for wanting shitty hardware and bad designmonospaced

- Young Steve Jobs riding away from Flash on iPad 1... He killed it to standardize the medium...ideaist

Anyone here still use Director for anything? http://www.lingoworkshop.com/Art…
- Wow...Director. That's a throwback. I remember using that.fyoucher1
- i used that in cawledgeteh
- Look at when Director got 3D acceleration... we're just getting that in Flash now. This level of lazyness on Adobes part is why Flash is starting to flounderanimatedgif

Despite the fact that HTML is indeed more usable, the sad thing about the whole story is the fact that online creativity has been circumscribed by just one man with a ruthless marketing plan.
I mean c'mon guys, do you realize what the use Flash has realized in terms of experimental interfacing and animation?
- Not at all, just look at the WebGL sceneanimatedgif
- <-- this. you will never be able to do what you can in flash with htmlteh

"online creativity has been circumscribed by just one man with a ruthless marketing plan."
I find it fascinating that people still say this kind of thing. It was just the iOS that didn't support Flash, and there are umpteen devices that DO support it. Nobody forced anyone to buy iOS devices and stop developing in Flash, but they did anyway. If anyone killed it, it was Adobe by not adapting to the mobile platform in an efficient and timely manner.

Clients dont like Flash anymore, that's a fact. Everything is ruled by the demand
