Taking the lady to La Jolla for our anniversary. We've both been down there before, but we haven't really explored it much. We've done the Gaslamp, and we're not really interested in Sea World or the zoo. Looking for some off the beaten path stuff to check out, whether it's food, places or things to do, from pricey to cheap. Hit me.

not sure what's in La Jolla besides the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the beach. It's mostly old people there, it's probably nice if you have kids and you want to bring them to the beach, as long as the weather is nice..
What do you guys like to do?
I live here and I have never been to sea world (and turned down the opportunity about 6 times) I've been to the zoo once (I was kinda forced).

We're staying in La Jolla cause the hotels are super nice and we got an awesome rate. We were hoping to just lay out, get some sun and relax all weekend, but it's looking like it's going to be about 55 and rainy. We'll be driving around, so we're open to suggestions anywhere around La Jolla or SD. I guess we're looking for the kinds of things you can only do in San Diego, unique spots, unique eats, that kinda thing. Didn't know about the MOCA in La Jolla...good to know. We'll probably skip out on the really touristy spots (Sea World, Zoo, Legoland, etc.)

park at bottom of the hill (La Jolla Shores Dr.) right by scripps instate and hike on the beach north for about 2 miles. You will see, scripps pier, the mushroom house, blacks beach (nude beach) and finally end up at the glider port where you will see gliders over your head. It's pretty cool.
Scripps Research Pier
La Jolla Mushroom House
Torrey Pines Gliderport
- why you skip the pic of blacks beach?!johnny_wobble

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in La Jolla recently won the award for roaster of the year. Their coffee is really good, worth it to take home a pound of fresh NIcaragua Antigua

Any unique streets to check out with good grub and fun shops? Been to the Gaslamp and might stop by for some of that mussel bisque at Dobson's, but any other nice strips to check out?
- If you drive north maybe check out Cedros Ave. in Solana Beach. Very nice, but kinda fru-fru/yuppy too.nocomply
- India St. / Little Italy is a nice walk, and near downtown.nocomply
- 5th Ave in Hillcrest (near 5th & University) is cool if you've never been there.nocomply
- India Street in Little Italy has that really cool art store you might enjoy checking outHijoDMaite

If you drive over to Pacific Beach (short drive from La Jolla) this place will give you a really "San Diego" experience: http://www.yelp.com/biz/pacific-….
Used to live a few blocks from there and I've missed it terribly since I moved.
- Looks great. Anything specific we should order?CincodeMayo
- I used to live @ Lamont and Reed a handful of blocks away.monospaced

Ocean Beach (OB) is pretty laid back, surfer, cool shops, bars are good. HoDad's has some of the best burgers, and down the street check Southbeach. They have the best Mahi - Ono tacos around. Just my opinion..

If you like sea life check out Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
George's at the Cove for your expensive dinner. One of those, you gotta do it once kinda places.
- CincodeMayo0
Awesome...both of those look good. Any cool shops or museums we should check out?

Alibertos. Or any 'bertos for that matter.
