a good bio page tells a story about you and your work

Be honest, but upfront, about your most impressive accolades or professional/academic achievements.
Add something that a casual acquaintance of yours wouldn't know about you, but should.

I would just say practice practice practice. Til you get it right. Spend days on it - it's important. I don't see any real boundaries between design and copywriting - they're the same process: a blend of art and sales, symbols and emotions, persuasion and commentary. Engage your potential client as such, woo them with something to impress, comfort and assure them with the familiar, excite them with the unknown. They must have you on their next project - it's vital, you know that. They know their shit, they need you to take it to the world and excite and engage their customers from the moment they see your work; don't tell - show.

"insert name here" visionary artist. how far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?

You must know your audience and they must know why you are a credible authority in a given subject. This can be done by giving your background of prior work, experience and education.
When writing about yourself always keep in mind Aristotle’s means of persuasion:
Ethos – a speaker’s authority, credibility, and perceived expertise
Logos – a speaker’s logic, organization, and mastery of language
Pathos – a speaker’s ability to move an audience emotionally

Hijo has some good thoughts... and I agree on writing in Third person, even though at first you feel like a douche. Mine has 2 short paragraphs, one with my work experience, making me sound cool, the other is about personal life craziness, to make myself sound more interesting. When I was looking for jobs, it served as a good convo starter sometimes.
Remember this is all about selling yourself, so make yourself sound awesome... but don't lie... I shouldn't have to say that, but it happens more often than I'd like to think.
