Anyone ever use craigslist for movers or have any recommendations?
I have no more than a SUV's worth of stuff?
Can I trust the guys on craigslist? How much do you think it will cost?

i suggest you get a few buddies and go rent a U-Haul truck from the west side.. its located near 23rd street. do it yourself.. movers charge generally around $400 minimum in NYC.

best way to rob someone is to move their belongings disguised as movers... get the whole house! no break ins, etc..
i'd expect to pay $200-$300

generally local nyc movers charge by the hour and by the amount of man power it takes to do the move itself.
if you have everything already boxed and packed securely the real price will be the number of people they have to do the job. ie- the driver, and either 1-2 other movers.
a general price for local nyc moving goes for $75-95 per hour per mover.
it can average to about $400 as i listed above. this is why i recommend you do it yourself and only pay the cost of the U-Haul itself for the day rate and gas.

We are not fucking around people. monospaced is a dedicated NYC mover. Not many people know this but his nickname is Mono Monster Mover. Even if its just a fucking coffee table, MMM will not hesitate moving your shit all the way from wherever to NYC.

I did a big move with FlatRate movers and the 2 guys were excellent, I got their numbers after asking if they do any "off the books" moving on the side - I could pass along if interested
