What's the point of using them? Totally useless.
- CyBrainX0
You should use them. And for the same reason you always use vectors. They can be resized to anything. Sure you might have a complex situation that requires a lot of brushwork, but even if it's a simple fade mask you can feather a vector mask.
Totally useful.

really? REALLY?
FUCKING REALLY?If you're asking this then you're just incompetent

If you're asking this then you're just incontinent?

If you're asking this then you're just incomplete.

And while we're at it, don't be one of those who has Layer 87 copy 23.

HAHA nah you're just shit.animatedgif

Yeah, *FUCKING* really.
Please explain to me how it's any more FUCKING efficient than manually editing. It's way FUCKING cumbersome.
And I don't give a shit about whether you think I'm FUCKING competent or not. I name layers and I'm way FUCKING talented, so eat me, junior douchewipe.
- To reach Jr. Douchewipe, are you demoted or promoted from Douchewipe?hellobotto
- It's non-destructive, case closed.
You really are cluelessanimatedgif - And you're really a fucking idiot.Geith

I love emotional arguments about vector masks.
What's more cumbersome than using vector masks is when you upscale a layer (even a smart object) that has a raster mask and you have to recreate it. If you had a vector mask you would have no such problem.

- Ha. I'm just having fun. I could really care less because I'm gonna do what I do.Geith

shit just got real

i think it depends on what you're doing... i've found them to be really handy, especially when using smart objects. also, you can select the vector mask, make a path, and copy/paste that into illustrator, where you can then use the pathfinder to make other masks. the advantage of that is that the edge won't interpolate, giving you that weird "trapping" issue on the edges (which you'll get if you command click on a rastor mask and select inverse, for example).

People change their minds. Vector masks are scalable. That is useful... case closed.

I think this is a B*sh disciple.

And I care? No.

This is fucking ace. Bloke makes thread asking what is the point on vector masks, gets his answer and says 'fuck it - I'll do my thing'
I mean, why did you asked, mr. Geith? Did you actually expect all to agree with you? While you are at it why not starting a Mac vs PC thread...
- Doesn't mean it was a "right" answer. There are many ways to do things, Flashypants.Geith
