They're the same really, depends on how the company is setup really. For my part I would say that all designers are creatives but not all creatives are designers. Creatives being members of the creative dept, that dept being made of people with very different skillsets.

Creative comes up with concepts
Designer is given these concepts / style guides to deliver remaining elements to the projectIt's agency talk - not something that generally happens in small studios
- i think your statement is limiting to only agencies in your industry and excluding others..e-pill
- he didn't specify what industry but you're right yeh. Is it not the same in robot designing? ;)WeLoveNoise

in agencies, the "creative department" includes Designers, Art Directors, Copywriters and Creative Directors.... and probably more....
whereas the "account department" contains those pesky but useful sales-whizzes who convince the client to actually pay for the crazy stuff we do....

don't call yourself a creative. creative is an adjective, not a noun.

creatives are born with that special talent..
designers are taught in school and can be anyone..

There is no hard and fast rule -
describing oneself either way is entirely down to one's own pretension.

Hi all,
I am not a native english speaker and I don't always get the difference between what is called a Creative and a Designer.
From what I understood so far:
a Creative haves more broader skills, from concepts to Photoshop works, for print, digital, event, etc...
a Designer is more specialised and focuses, helped by his technical skills on taking to life (in motion, in pictures or whatever) the original concept.Am I right?
