My dad thought it would be cool to get me a bmx in about '83 when I was six.
Unfortunately, he got something that would last the ages. The rims were about three times as thick as normal and the frame was solid. It weighed a freaking ton. The only real trick I could do with it was ride it into a wall full pelt and not even dint the rim.
My grandma actually got me a full face motorcycle helmet to wear as well. It looked a little like a red version of Dark Helmets helmet from Spaceballs when I put it on.
Needless to say I was bullied all through primary school and was glad when I finally got a mountain bike.

I'm surprised craigslist has a ton of old 80's bikes available. I knew eBay had a shitload, but glad to know that they are available locally, of course for a pretty penny.. so many to choose from.. Should I go with my old Redline with Flight cranks or try something new... decisions decisions
