Your mouse probably has 2 buttons. Try the right one. if you do this while your mouse cursor is over a file (or selected group of files) in itunes you can edit the tags! Woah!
If your tags are fucked up, its because the original files weren't tagged correctly, not because itunes is screwing up...

ummm.. right... thanks i think, i have been letting itunes do it but, i would prefer not to have to fix all the shit it gets wrong ALL THE TIME, I suppose what i really want is a "retager" , i forgot what asking questions on here is like hmmm

tune up is a waste of money. don't bother.
your best bet, IMO, is keep your shit organized from the start. I started just letting iTunes manage my library automatically. life's been a lot smoother since then.
just make sure your shit is tagged properly, then allow iTunes to copy/name files on import and you're gold.

I swear itunes is such a misunderstood program. it's absolutely wonderful if you have a real collection of music.
I find that most people who complain about it don't know a single thing about smart playlists, have a "music collection" from napster, and have never tried microsoft zune's software
- that's what I meant by my post ... what the fuck do people expect except to store and play music well?monospaced
- people that crack me up - "wish I could go back to winamp and having music in folders" lolgenfourth
- i don't waht to go back to that .FUCK just want something that works now, the zune software was rad by the way !!!
climbatree - i knew saying that i used to be on a p.c would spin this thread the wrong wayclimbatree

I have music in my library that is in folders on my hard drive but itunes won't recognise them, giving me a question mark beside each track.
any one know a work around?

ummm looks interesting , i mean something more to clean up my mp3's i already have ( collected over the years since winamp 1.0). I was very close to having everything sorted then I changed to a mac and my music never be the same. I have most of my album covers and the like but the tags are awful. The one redeeming feature of itunes is "genius" but i will not let me use it on half my tracks. i know its never going to be perfect but there must be a quick way of geting it close.
