The riots don't seem to be coordinated or actually against anything.... just a reason to break shit. Not like people are marching organized or anything from what I've seen. I know it was spurred by a police shooting, but just seems senseless now. Awesome.
- BBM and Twitter has helped to co-ordinate large numbers, some groups even had radios in Hackney I heard********
- But yeah it is clearly just to smash shit because they can********

Not saying it's right, but if you take a generation of already disenfranchised youth, remove the few good things that the previous government gave them to try to bring them back from the margins, and then make damn sure that they have absolutely fuck all prospects for quite realistically the rest of their lives, what the fuck do you expect? They have absolutely no other way to express their frustrations other than smashing shit and nicking stuff.

No doubt there was an element of one upmanship between gangs in Tottenham, Brixton, Peckham etc.
Heard guys in Tottenham were sending pics round of all the stuff they'd looted, showing off. Reckon this spurred the brainless in other areas to up the ante.

"The UK's independent music scene has been rocked by the destruction of a warehouse in Enfield which contained stock from many British labels.
Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) in Enfield held stock from distributor PIAS, which licenses and distributes music from around 165 of Britain's independent labels, including Rough Trade, Beggars, Ninja Tune, Domino and Warp. The full list can be found on the Drowned in Sound message boards, but covers almost every important record label in the country."

Footballer Wayne Rooney said: “These riots are nuts why would people do this to there own country. Own city”
adding afterwards
"You can get flights to Prague for about £50. Majorca is only 2 hours away. It doesn't make any sense shitting on your own doorstep. This is just embarrassing".
