Hello all,
My main backup drive died on me last month,
it is not a bad sector/boot crash because I did try to repair it but none of my comps mac/pc (xp/vista/osx snow leopard) can access the data,I did try the pcb fix, hoping it wasn't the arms that were gone, but after waiting 3 weeks and mounting everything very carefully I still get the same error, (anyone worndering: http://onepcbsolution.com/)
It contained the last 11 years of work + tons of travel and files, "luckily" my most recent (1 year work) work is saved on my first backup disk and some others on my laptop.
anyone can recommend a good company, "they have used before" to recover data with a failed disk,
and before anyone says why didn't you backup your backup, lets say that's exactly what I did not thinking my backup/backup disk would fail...
ps: this disk was external and only turned on when I needed to access or backup my yearly work.
thanks
fml...

tldr; I need a company which would phisically remove the disk platter and recover my data,
I don't care about the cost,
thanx

If money is no object then there wont be a problem.
Be prepared though it can really cost $$$$$$$$$£

I'm keeping the drive in a safe place,
no matter how much it cost, I'll save up and pay,
It kinda suck when a client ask you about his work or you have to show up at an interview and only have 72dpi work from your website

1 disk for 11 years of print-work and travel data...sounds like a massive huge gigantic disk.
what's the error you get? how does it sound?
try the freezer method. (maybe in a waterproof container).- nope, I changed it around the years, eveytime I would travel, I would backup my shit and leave with my disk, no compGeorgesII

Disk Scavenger has worked for me several times.
Take the drive, stick it in a external case, run DS on another computer and choose what you want to recover.
Easily worth the $30 or whatever it cost.

freezer trick works. worked for my bro.
a google reveals more with success.

also - how do you connect the HD?
if it's with firewire - the ports can easily blow(on hd or mac). happened to me. I got a new enclosure for the HD and it was as good as gold.
That would be a safe, cheap and simple first step. If that fails, try freezer option. If that fails send it of to the FBI - ask them to enhance in on those psd's for you
- that's what I do when a client sends me logo's or photos off the web.Amicus
