  Disk Scavenger has worked for me several times.

  Take the drive, stick it in a external case, run DS on another computer and choose what you want to recover.

  Easily worth the $30 or whatever it cost.

  • Oh, yeah, 1 disk for 11 years seems a little foolish. I replace every 2 yearsformed
  • and have a closet full of old external drives. They are the backed up back up, if my world burns, etc.formed
