Which is better in August - October? Is it safe to go? Know any decent hotels that are clean and not too expensive?
they're all cheap and clean
puerto vallarta. hit me up if you want a number for a sailboat captain down there that charters out a 38" footer. it's super nice and he does overnights to some of the islands around there. really affordable
cancun is way better - actually playa del carmen an tulum....
Puerto Vallarta is for older people in my opinion... the waves are awsome....
havent been to Puerto Vallarta besides just driving through, Love Cancun.
got arrested in cancun. won't go back. too touristy anyway.
never been to puerto vallarta.
soooo.. my vote is puerto vallarta
Fly into Puerto Vallarta and then drive 1hr30min (in the daytime) to Playa Nexpa.
Away from the tourists, clean waves (if you surf), and cheap as fucking hell.
Both areas are the in rainy/hurricane season during those periods. I'd head to the Baja and hit up La Paz, Loreto or Todos Santos. Guaranteed lots of dry weather in the mid 90s to low 100s.
I'll second La Paz or Todos Santos. If you go to La Paz, check out the boat tour that takes you to La Isla Espiritu Santu - it's beautiful, and you may get to swim with sea lions and whale sharks. It's also a good day trip from Todos Santos.
Be warned: Todos Santos beaches are kind of hidden, and tend to have rather large surf.
If you go to Todos Santos, skip the Hotel California and eat at the taco/torta shack a couple blocks up the road and the ceviche corner (seriously, it's a couple guys, a few coolers of ceviche, and a gravel lot with some tables and chairs just outside of the main street area).
Cancun...if ur looking to party. Both are god aweful cheap :) I remember getting a lobster and "shimps" (plural) for two folks with drinks for only $20.
total opposites, but i have to say puerto vallarta all the way!
