EMACS is a pretty powerful open source editor. Our developer uses it.
http://www.gnu.org/software/emac…- EMACS is a religion, not an editor, but some people do join the church of EMACS....vaxorcist

- Have you ever used it? I code perfectly well in this in HTML/CSS/JS/PHP/HAML... and Ruby...orrinward
- Syntax highlighting, smart nesting e.t.c. I find it lacks nothing except file relationships on static pages, and I don't work in static often these daysorrinward

+1 for notepad++
Though for better or for worse I've become so accustomed to the interface and flow of Dreamweaver over the years that I have a tough time working on code without it.
- try coda if you're used to dreamweaver... much less bloatedsilentpost

Oh God.. not Aptana Studio.. that thing is convoluted mess.. It's basically Eclipse on steriods and way to complicated for what it does. But it does a lot.
