I have had about 10 Lacie HDs. After 8 failures, I switched over to G-Tech and now to Glyph.
- Correct, LaCie are gash-o-rama... Western Digital are cursed with the AIDS. Buffalo are pretty reliable.robulation
- agree on WD, they seems to magically make my files corrupt. Seagate is good but ...JSK

Get a normal hard drive (2.5" or 3.5") and an USB enclosure.

Lacie sucks. If you ask a guy at a computer shop, they will say Lacie sucks.

Stick with Lacie. Great quality, reliable and excellent performance.

I have that 2TB LaCie pictured above, but the wireless version. Nice drive, very easy to install. Only minor complaint is slow transfer speeds over wireless. Then I remind myself, "You're move files THROUGH THE AIR, dumbass!"

I got the 1TB Nas version and I do not like it at all sir. Slow, refuses to mount without restarting a lot, problems copying files and refused to be seen at all on my mac due to a permissions error.Found it to be very flaky.

I use 2 of these - they are 2TB but when used in safe RAID mode are 1TB (as the drive is mirrored):

Seagate are pretty reliable. I'd avoid Lacie, they only make enclosure not hard drives and thye can be somewhat unreliable.
Some people swear by OWC products like the Guardian Maximus for a RAID solution, never used em but have heard good things.
- and that of course should read 'they' can be somewhat unreliable.ian
- Thanks Ian!honest
- no worries chief.ian
