Gold & Silver are a store of value. That's all. Today you can buy 1 ounce of Silver for $30 (a coin sized amount). It will go to $500 when the dollar collapses (2012 - 2013). Imagine having 1000 ounces of silver. each at $500 per ounce?! you could buy a median size home for that. See the video...

^ Yes but the point is - who is going to trade your almighty gold and silver? No one will want it if the dollar collapses. People will want food and supplies not useless metal.
- Exactly. Shiny bars are going to get you killed if that collapse happens.formed

Its as good as food & guns & mad max whatever. It is money. It's been money for 5000 years. If I had a load of food. Some of which was going to go bad. i would trade it for money (gold silver) then buy more food later when I'm hungry. right?
- yeah but you can blow somebody's head off with a silver coin.********

It's been money for 5000 years. So has a lot of things. Perhaps you should read an actual book.

the "system" is the only thing setting value to anything, the inflation you mention is a direct result of the greed projecting the need for more.
Money is nothing more than a promise from one individual to another during a barter.
If said "system" collapses, man will have no problem bartering again and assigning a value to whatever goods need traded.
currently:
bread = $1.99 / grocery storewithout "system":
wheat = help harvest / farmerThe land robbing that occurred is what hurt man most i believe, nature was taken from others making it illegal to hunt/gather ones own means, allowing one to profit while another starved.
If we lose those rules, mankind has no problem crossing these imaginary lines again. It is after all a planet of free willed bio-organisms.
