This is my new portfolio website. I have gone through a complete re-branding/overhaul. I started working on this almost a year ago and what I started with looks TOTALLY different this end version.I wanted a kind of "new retro" feel. I also love seeing huge typography in web design & art direction, so I saw it as an opportunity to apply this to mine.
This is also my first attempt at marking up my site using HTML5 semantics & structure. I still have some bugs to work out. I think my IE9 compatibility script is making certain text shadows and opacity look terrible in IE8 and below. But everything seems to be working out in standards compliant browsers.
As an added bonus I added css3 animated transitions to specific site elements so check it out in any webkit browser (chrome or safari).

It seems like a lot of people are digging the Web 2.0 retro feel, looks nice.

i like how everything is flying in from all angles, and everything is easy to read.. lots of bouncing though on roll overs.. not too much a fan of that but it adds i guess, but its the first thing i noticed, b4 i saw any work..

Hey, buddy. No crit here. Great site! The design is a little middle of the road for me (could point out a ton of sites using this style, including the HTML5 Boilerplate site you reference in your footer), but you pulled it off just fine. Not really seeing how the "art director" title plays out in your work, but I guess it's become standard for everyone and anyone to put that on their C.V./portfolio.

Looks pretty nice. But only suggestion is that not every bit of text needs to have a text shadow on it. It get's a little bit too much.

Nicely done. Personally, I find the copy cringeworthy, but if it gets you clients then why not.

- +1, good points here.********
- my intent was to give the user an idea of who I am overall, and not just put up thumbnails of worksteven_segal

I get the bouncing on mouseover as well - don't know if that's intentional?
- that was intentional, a bit of a responsive touch, people either like it or hate it I supposesteven_segal

Site looks cool, but i'm having a bug with firefox 4. The portfolio pieces aren't showing once i click on them. I just get a yellow modal window with a description. If i click on the "view live" link, the image will show just before i'm taken to the new page.
I agree that the site design is probably overpowering the work. Also, you need to look over your spelling on the about page.
- looks fine in firefox 4 for me, both on pc and mac, also I'm not seeing any spelling issues, can you point them out?steven_segal
- The hover info for "Front-end Web Design?" has a few errors.DeSiard

haha. for whatever reason it's working fine now. I might have just been having a connection issue of some sorts. Nice work!

I love the type.
Definition of GEEK
1: a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
2: a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked- i don't have that many social friends and I drink alone in the dark...so..that works i guess. hahasteven_segal
