Fuck you, pay me
Like a rabbi, repeating the litany, nothing about design, all about money, and zero design. Curious. And i like it because always we are talking about kerning, rip offs and lolcats and lolcubes...
Great tips for someone who works in wue what began as his true passion. But it is clear that a business has NOTHING to do with feelings. Possible presentation to the first client:
I graduated last year and this is my lawyer who will teach my contract. haha!
I don't know how many times I got rogered when I freelanced in my early 20s, trying appeal to non-paying clients' emotions. Ugh.Continuity- ... non-paying clients' emotions. Ugh.Continuity

The more guys like this in design the better. He strikes me to have done this to pave the way for enthusiastic designers to be able to have a job in a world that genuinely either
a. does not understand creative, it's value and what it does for business
or
b. Does understand this but are happy to exploit it whilst their business flourishes as a result.
Either way more guys like this are needed in the creative industries.

@miesfan yeah I agree that you're going to get screwed when your trying to do something you love and you're young / inexperienced... but jesus I wish at least one of my teachers would have talked to me like this in school... the more designers that think like this the more value our industry has as a whole, and clients won't think "we'll I can just hire a 20-somthing to get this done for nothing"

Worth watching, thanks Julesvm

"Gabe... I'm tired of paying you, how about I take you to a presentation, make you a rockstar designer lawyer and you get tons of business out of it and stop charging me?"
Sorry, just kidding, great presentation and I hope Gabe does get loads of work through this.
Now, do we have any good boilerplate contracts beside http://24ways.org/2008/contract-… ?

I have been wanting to sit and draw a contract with an attorney for some time already, but it is so fucking hard to find attorneys that understand this business.
Does anyone know of any good 'creative services' attorneys? Have you ever used one? Any in FL??

If he gets paid so much, why does he look like a tramp wearing a bigger mans suit?
