My first mp3 was ripped from a cd on my 486 dx2 66mhz back in 1998. It took at least half an hour to encode and my PC couldn't even play it without skipping horribly.

i couldn't say what my first mp3 download was, but because of shit mp3 quality back then i quickly switched to almost exclusively downloading .shn files instead. haha, those were the days!

I remember back when most computers couldn't fucking handle MP3's and would skip/glitch out over the compression. I think the slowest you could run an MP3 on was a Pentium 2, maybe like 233mhz?
