I started training Krav Maga a year and a half ago and it's done amazing things for me. I could never stick to running or going to the gym for very long. For some reason Krav hooked me and I've done it 2-3 times a week ever since. I lost a bunch of fat, gained lean muscle, can fight like a mofo and have had a blast doing it. I would recommend it!
The other thing I started this Jan is Tabata Interval training. Holy schnikes it's hard!

Get a good vegetarian cookbook and start eating healthier. If your diet is mostly vegetables there is no way you won't lose weight and you will improve your health in other ways as well.

Lifting weights burns the most calories.
Keep the workout simple - no need for tracking stuff.
"Push" weights on the 1st day, "Pull" weights on the 2nd day, treadmill or elliptical on the 3rd day (throw in some crunches too), rest on the 4th day. Repeat.
We all know what's healthy and unhealthy to eat. Just don't overeat. It's THAT simple.
I lost 40lbs in less than a year this way! And have kept it off for 2.
