For a day visit is it worth going? Anything interesting / cool? Or is it just a big mall that us treking over from Canada just shop in?

Considering going this weekend for a one day road trip.

Love the architecture, people rough, ready and real. Just wander round downtown admiring the finest in run-down and preserved early 20th century building adornments. Find a bar, get drunk.
If I won the lottery I'd seriously buy a few city blocks and preserve the buildings, living history.

I'd go check out the Frank Llyod Wright architecture there.
http://www.wrightnowinbuffalo.co…I echo mikotondria's sentiments. Buffalo really is an underrated town. Just don't drink the tap water there. Supposedly there's a correlation between the chemicals in the water and their high cancer rate.

Some (and by some I mean most) parts of buffalo seem quite dodgey. I planted a cat statue in the bushes at this ihop not too long back; take a look and see if it's still there if you're in the area (i'm sure it's long gone though).

The albright-knox gallery + the Frank Lloyd Wright stuff is a good day there. And like mikotondria3 said, definitely worth a stroll around town to check out the buildings

I hear the albright knox gallery is a place to go. never been, would like to check it out some time. I hear they have some good pieces since buffalo at one point in time long ago was financially quite well off.

Try the wings.

yes, try the wings.
Duffs, Anchor bar... all those places.
- spot130
If you go, you should pick up a houses, they cost as much as a few pounds of wings: http://mls.com/foreclosure/searc…

besides the galleries mentioned - not much.
unless you're into shopping ---waldengalleria.
always loaded up on books, much cheaper than Canada,
especially with our high dollar.

Thanks everyone... sounds tempting now. Not to worried about the "dodgey" element - adds character!
I'll be ignoring the Falls. Everytime someone from back home visits me I have to take them there... plus the Canadian side is better ;)
