good answer man, i am actually a developer though... i think the idea of putting a header at the bottom of a site because it contains "header like information" for SEO purposes contradicts the "better structured" argument a bit... and surely google will start to employ some sort of visual scraping (like virtual gaze tracking) to denote the importance of what are essentially visual elements?
In other news... I just tried out the <nazisympathizer> tag (just to see if i could style it) and it was much more fun. :-D

I've done a fair amount of SEO related work and reached the conclusion that you can't really fool Google by structuring your page one way or the other...gray hat SEO as it's called is much more likely to revolve around content generation and backlinks than any magical combination of tags on a given page.
So it's probably best to just use the best practices in terms of markup, given that you won't gain much by marking up the page in a counter intuitive way.

Ukit,
Doing and entire site in HTML5 right now partnering with Microsoft/IE9 for the NHL playoffs. There will be some cool data viz involving stat's and the Twitter API with an interactive bracket.
I've got a meeting with the dev shop tomorrow and they'll be giving me a demo of some rad HTML5 stuff they've done already.
Here's a great site to see what peep's are doing with HTML5: http://www.beautyoftheweb.com/
I've been shown some other stuff at the Microsoft camp here in Toronto and how IE9 is optimized for the new code and rendering pages quickly. Fun stuff.
