Designing "About" Pages

So, I'm redesigning my portfolio website (a long time coming, been out of school and working at an ad agency for 2 years) and I've been researching all the different approaches to the content and design of about pages. I've seen the illustrative approach, the "skill level" charts and graphs approach, funny narratives, etc.
I want to make this page informative and to the point about what I do and my skill sets, but I don't want to be a chore, and need it to be fun or engaging.
Also, I've been seeing the whole "companies worked with" section on some of these pages. I'm considering placing this on mine. Is it okay to affiliate yourself with these brands/companies if you did the work for them through an agency?
Thanks for any tips or insights

the main advice i can give you is to *not* put your pic on it... pretty lame to me.
- I can't stress this enough. People are judgemental. A profile pic is a bad idea.Hombre_Lobo

The about page can really be accomplished in the home page, so not really necessary.

Used to be that only real estate agents would include their photo in their business cards and billboards...

i think 'about me' humanizes your portfolio and gives context to your work; personality..... of course you're steven segal, so you're not human, so do whatever.
