curious if in a non formal client-designer coffee/lunch meet-up, who pays?

i thought is was whoever is getting paid in the job was the person who should pay?
- isn't that why print reps buy us lunch when we give them jobs?capn_ron
- yeh, print rep paid for the biggest dinner ive ever had once.Hombre_Lobo
- I love giving big jobs to print reps because they take me to strip clubs and good lunches.capn_ron
- i got dinner from a print rep, no idea it was like an industry thingscarabin
- oh yeah, they like to grease wheels and get more work. It's the new golf course business meeting.capn_ron
- Print reps like to act as if they're rolling in cash. Must be leftover from the "good 'ol days"monospaced
- Oh yes. Once had a killer dinner at one of the most expensive places in Asheville NC, on a print rep's dime.gramme

Client would usually pay I feel.
They are your employer, and employer pays for employee.
Take a wallet with you just in case, but don't make the first move to pay.
- nooo.. they're not your employer - they're your customer.lukus_W2

Always pay for your client. Don't just offer, but take the check. It's a write-off and builds rapport.
If its your employer, they pay...it always irks me when a boss doesn't pay.

the party that is paying for things usually pays, imo
If a client asks to meet over lunch, I'll expect them to pay.
If I invite someone that I hired or intend to hire, I'll pay.
Hmmm....I guess just defer to the "whoever has the most money pays" or just right back to the first answer "whoever called the meeting/lunch pays"

Depends on the project and how much they are willing to pay.
I only agree to pay with potential clients! I know sounds selfish maybe!
