My favourite funk band, well they call themselves soul but they play great funk: Tower of Power, awesome live:
they have the best bass player: rocco prestia! and their drummer also rules: David Garibaldi.
Herbie Hancock:
George Clinton/parliament/pfunk:
bootsy collins:
Rick james:

somebody posted War "Cisco Kid" on the other page and they're a little more rock, latin beat type of funk but the double album War Live is kick ass -
Slippin Into Darkness
- Just downloaded the album. I have to concur. The best live album I've heard in a long time. I'll post on FMT this week.CyBrainX

Found out about this a couple of months ago, absolutely sick... Adding to the already immense respect for Bootsy Collins.

That Betty Davis is great. I never heard her before. Nikka Costa sounds like her.
And here's Frank doing what he does best: playing guitar.

Herbie Hancock "Hang up your Hangups" from the 1975 album Manchild -
- This is great. The live album Flood is also fantastic from the Headhunters era. It's got a great version of this song.CyBrainX

Miles 1972 "On the Corner" - there's a boxset called "The Complete On the Corner Sessions" that has a ton of outtakes and alt recordings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The…
- About 7 hours of music that could fill this thread. It's probably the best of the many Miles Davis box sets. This is the best post so far.CyBrainX
