Do people on Windows 7 really actually get "viruses"? Can anyone actually share a story of this happening?
I have no antivirus software, and have never experienced any problems at all. Just keep things updated. Antivirus software is the virus (bloat, ads, constant updates, slows down computer, etc).
as far as "cool apps"?
um...don't install shit unless you need it to perform a task, and then maybe I can give you a recommendation on what you could try.

^the clock is by rainmeter + 10 foot hud.very pretty! lots of GUI customization on windows 7. You could make it look like a mac if you like. You can get expose for windows 7 too - arguably the best thing about OSx, very useful.

For anti virus you don't need anything else but Microsoft security essentials.
Uninstall all other antivirus, 3rd party firewall software because they are one of the reasons why computers are dog shit slow for many people and have conflicts and crashes. In software.

i dont like VLC myself, CCCP is the way to go. Does it have mov support on the latest update? i usually install Quicktime and CCCP.
CCCP comes with another media player too - zoom player, which is decent.
